New Article: Nana's Wig

Hello Deathlings!

This article is part of our series The Death Gap: End-Of-Life Inequality, a collaboration between The Order Of The Good Death and The Collective For Radical Death Studies The series examines the various ways in which systemic racism impacts the way BIPOC communities experience death and access end-of-life care.

Our latest guest writer, Erica Gerald Mason, wrote her first poem at the age of six while asking Santa to bring her a Barbie with wardrobe options and has not stopped writing since.

Erica writes everything - poetry, fiction, reported and opinion pieces that have appeared everywhere from Vanity Fair, to the Wall Street Journal. Most of all, Erica is a storyteller, which is evident in her essay for our Death Gap series, entitled "Nana's Wig," which beautifully, painfully, and intimately explores this gap. This is one of those rare pieces that will stay with you long after you've read it.

You can find Erica on Twitter at @ericapretzel or on Instagram at @erica.pretzel.

This piece, deathlings. It resonates in your bones.

Take care of yourselves and your loved ones, thank you for being here.

From an appropriate social distance,

Caitlin
