Oh To Be Alive! Medical Mistakes and Meat Showers

Hello Deathlings,

Today's video brings you two troubling tales: one you have ALL been asking about and one well, I just wanted to talk about.

We're talking about the case of how Timesha Beauchamp was taken to the funeral home instead of the hospital (truly troubling) and my favorite weather story, the Kentucky Meat Shower (troubling like when your weird cousin asks if he can chew your gum "after you're done with it").

The pairing may be odd, but I hope you like it.

Beauchamp's story feels like media "click bait" to me – focusing on the "HORROR" of the funeral home rather than the genuine horror of how a living human being was treated. You don't  just miraculously "wake up" at a funeral home; you don't narrowly avoid being embalmed ALIVE. A myriad of errors, oversights, and BAD JUDGEMENTS happen and you end up being mistaken for a corpse. It's a twisty-turny story that highlights how poorly certain people are treated by the medical establishment.

The other story, the Kentucky Meat Shower, is exactly how it sounds. Meat. Shower. Happened in Kentucky. BOOM.

So I hope you enjoy this little jaunt down the path of what's capturing my attention at the moment. Plus we tried a little something new with the format. Thoughts?

And it is SPOOKY SEASON so expect another doozy of a video this month – one that I've been dying to tell you all for a while.

'Tis the season, deathlings!

From an appropriate social distance,

Caitlin

*A quick, but important clarification: If you clicked on this post from your email, the subject probably read, "Caitlin Doughty's new patron-only video". This is not a patron-only video; this is a video that was released to the public. When we release patron-only videos we will explicitly state in the video info and in the video post that it is a "Patron Exclusive" video. Patreon recently changed the way Patrons-only video posts (i.e. these nifty messages that are delivered to your inbox) are released via email – automatically adding that "patron-only video" line to the subject, even if that's not the case. But that's not how we (and a lot of other creators) do things. So, sorry for the confusion! I hope this cleared things up! We're working on fixing this with Patreon.
