Ugh. Sorry this is late. I lost power for about 3 hours today. Lost internet last week, lost power today; what is going on with my city lately? Sigh.
Is anyone surprised that I enjoyed this episode? Or any episode for that matter?
It's driving me crazy that we all refuse to be with who we actually want to though. I get that Lemon is engaged to George, but she so obviously wants to be with Lavon. And he wants to be with her. So, I don't see what the problem is. If I'm George, I don't want to be engaged to someone who's with me because she seems like she should be, not because she loves me.
Anyway, it's Homecoming in Blue Bell. Zoe plans to skip it, as she's an outsider and people are generally wary of her. But, Levon always throws a big party. However, this year he's busy coaching the football team, so he puts Zoe in charge. Initially, she tries to plan a very Blue Bell outing, but after enlisting her NYC friend to help, things go downhill quickly.
Gigi (the friend) insists on doing things NYC style, no matter how much Zoe tells her that Blue Bell is not NYC. Eventually, she convinces Zoe that if she's just her NYC self, Blue Bell will love her fro who she is. But alas, that is not to be. Everyone hates the party. They are busy looking for their cheap, delicious eats and not stuff made of foam.
Zoe tries her best to make people happy, but Gigi is hell bent on judging and putting down everyone at the party. Finally, Lavon shows up and Zoe promises to call it a night. However, Wade shows up and drags her away for a medical emergency.
You see, while this party was going on, some dude came back for Homecoming that made Wade and George's lives miserable in high school. So, they want to prank him. And it turns out, Lemon, believe it or not, is a master pranker. In her old life, this is who she is, but it's not now. So, they planned to dye this guy blue in the shower. But, when he saw himself, he freaked out, fell down and bumped his head.
After Zoe examines him, she determines he's fine, but the trio are idiots who could have killed him. BB is totally beating herself up about it. Mostly because that's not the person she wants to be any longer. She's cosplaying as a mature, sophisticated adult. Whether she wants to be one or not.
Gigi is totally ruining Zoe's life in Blue Bell. She's alienated the town even more so than before. Plus, she slept with the vet that Zoe has had her eye on (even though she insisted he was gay). Later in the episode, Zoe tells her she's not NYC anymore. Nor is she Blue Bell. She's somewhere in between, but she likes who she's become. And I do too.
Also, Butter Bitch confronts Lavon about his confession in the last episode and tells him that mature, grown people stuff those feelings down and don't address them. Come on, bitch. You are just as in love with him as he is with you. Just get together already (even though you're engaged- I feel like George could deal).
At the end of the episode, Zoe (who totally owes Levon all the favors) makes him the food she was supposed to make for the party in the first place. (Plus, it's a really nice touch that he asks for the NYC bagels to go with the crab dip).
I love this show. I love the characters. I know this is stupid, but I kind of want it to be over so I can start re-watching it. 🫢
