HARDCORE EMBALMERS & Maggy the Maggot: It's Never Dull with Monica Torres!

Hello Deathlings, 

Today we have another Monica Torres collaboration video for you! We're talking HARDCORE EMBALMING. 

(Don't worry, like I say in the video, we shot this way before QUARANTINE happened. The Before Time. Monica and I aren't just bucking social distancing and mask-wearing to talk about maggots!) 

Did someone say maggots? 

Yes, yes, there's far more to the kind of highly skilled embalming that Monica does than maggots, but like WHOA, the maggot stories Monica has are next level. 

I admit I've encountered maggots, but NOWHERE on the scale that Monica has. I'll spare you the wriggley details, but what fascinated me about Monica's view on maggots is less that she deals with so many but rather that she approaches them with a cool, professional irritation rather than OH GAWD SO MANY MAGGOTS WHY?

I'm not going to lie, if I was confronted with a SECRET colony of maggots that just wouldn't quit, I'm not sure I could be as chill as Monica. Hence hardcore embalmer.

But the takeaway from this video isn't maggots. It's that with certain cases, having the expertise of a skilled restorative specialist is invaluable. It's invaluable for me as a funeral home owner and, even more so, invaluable to people who are seeking closure with a dead loved one. It gives people choices about their dead. That's why we do what we do!
