Honestly, this episode sort of confused me. There were way too many people who killed that one guy. And I could not keep them straight. At some point, I'm pretty sure I just stopped trying to get the names right. However, that said, it's such a good mystery with a lot of red herrings, so I enjoyed it. Minus the Moby Dick stuff. I swear that book gave me PTSD.
Okay, so someone has been burned and it turns out, it's the friend of the local cops. We had out to investigate and find out that this is the third (I think) member of an army platoon to end up burned in the last 5 years or something. This guy ended up trapped in his garage and was burned in there. Fun. But Rigsby, who is apparently an arson specialist, can tell this was a fairly professionally done job.
Shortly after this, another fire breaks out. CBI rushes over and Rigsby runs into the house to save the guy who was inside. He gets a little burned up in the process, and is high on pain killers for awhile. During which, he confesses his love to Grace, and while she's trying to let him down gently, he falls asleep.
To make this easier on myself, I'm just gonna say what happened in a non descriptive way. So, four guys go in together on a piece of land. One of them wasn't doing well, so the others allowed him to live on the property. He found some super water stuff that worth millions, but didn't share the wealth with the guys he bought the land with, so they killed him. I assume as a group. However, Tommy (who's been taking care of the land with the super water on it), has been cosplaying as a mentally challenged individual for years. And he's pissed that these dudes killed his friend. So, he's trying to take them all out by setting them on fire.
Patrick catches on that it's him when he finds a Moby Dick book in his trailer. And since Moby Dick is the worst book known to man, and you have to be a real glutton for punishment to read it, realizes that Tommy probably isn't as challenged has he's portraying himself to be. He eventually confesses and everyone gets to go home.
Also, in the episode, we've got Patrick telling Lisbon straight up that when he catches Red John, he's going to kill him. And she tells him, no, when they catch him, she's sending him to jail. He disagrees and reasserts himself. She tells him, she'll have to arrest him if he kills Red John, and Patrick happily tells her that's fine. I really wanna see how this plays out, but it feels so far away. I bet we have an interaction at the end of this season, but Red John actually getting caught feels like a long way off.
