High School Musical: The Musical: The Series 3X3: The Woman in the Woods

Okay, so remember when I was all like, it's a probably a good thing that E.J. isn't doing the casting because he might just cast all East High people? I mean, I guess it's good for Gina, since she knows she got the part of her own doing and not because her boyfriend handed it to her, but still. This is a camp where people have been coming for years, and suddenly all of E.J.'s friends get parts and no one else. Seems fishy to me.

Anyway, we get our parts, Gina is Anna; Kourtney is Elsa; Carlos is Olaf; E.J. is the reindeer (I forget it's name); and Ricky is Kristoff. Poor, sad Ashlyn only ended up in the ensemble. She's trying her best to deal with it after having been Belle in the previous show, but it's proving difficult for her.

Meanwhile, Maddox is thrilled that her favorite night of the year is here. The new campers are going to camp out in the woods and tell ghost stories. She's so excited, but Jet and Ricky keep making fun of her stories and taking the scary out of them. Later, we find out that she and Jet are siblings, and camp is the only place she feels like herself and now he's come and ruined it for her.

While everyone is playing ghost story, E.J. is busy trying to get through the script to make sure it's ready to go for the table read tomorrow because Corbin is coming bright and early. This poor kid is so stressed out. This was supposed to be a fun summer with his friends and he just seems so miserable and unhappy. I feel bad for him.

And as much as I hate to admit it, it really does seem like we're setting up a love triangle with Gina/E.J./Ricky. I don't want this. Let the drama come from shows they are putting on. I don't really know what to expect with this (these?) relationships going forward, but I'm hoping that I'm wrong and Ricky just meets someone new at camp and Gina stays with E.J.
