So, we find out that Whistler, the guy Michael has been tasked with breaking out, killed the mayor's son. And anyone who kills him basically gets a get out of jail free card. Which is why he's busy hiding in the sewer because it's open season on him if anyone finds him.
However, too many people know where he is now. Bellick, Michael, Mahone, and some other guys too. So Michael is now tasked with trying to keep him safe. He tries to talk to the head dude in charge, but he's not getting anywhere with that. But, Bellick also talks to him and exchanges the info for some clothes and food.
But not water. During a skirmish, one of the head dude's people knocked over the barrel of water and now everyone is freaking out. He tries to call the guard to ask for me but he's told he fucked around with the rioting and is now finding out that these are the consequences.
Michael again tries to tell him that he can be an asset if he'll just let him, but he sends Michael away. So, he takes matters into his own hands. He asks Jersey Boy (the 17 year old who's into sports) to get him some booze, bags, and some other stuff. He ends up basically making a bomb which forces water into the prison. Somehow this takes the bounty off of Whistler's head. So first problem down. Next problem, how do we escape in 6 days.
During all this, Sucre (who is physically fine) shows up at the prison to threaten Bellick about where Maricruz is. And we find out, he has no idea. He never did anything to her, just told her to get out of the house. He claims he would never do something like that (sure) and begs Sucre to help him get out of this prison. Sucre just up and leaves him there. As he should.
Lincoln asks him for help getting Michael out, but Sucre claims he's got to go to Chicago where Maricruz is. But Lincoln convinces him it's better for Maricruz if he stays away from her.
And speaking of Lincoln, he goes to see Whistler's girlfriend who just got a bird watching book out of the safety deposit box at the bank. Odd. When he gets back to his hotel, his handler woman is there waiting for him and demands he give it to her. He does and she leaves. But, it turns out, he bought an identical one. So, maybe something with Australian birds?
I do kind of love that we've essentially got a repeat of S1 happening right now. But the stakes seem way higher.
