Heart of Dixie 1X6: The Undead & The Unsaid

Okay, so this was my least favorite episode so far. I wasn't really into Zoe's storyline and there was way too much Lemon.

Zoe hasn't been sleeping well lately, so when Brick goes out of town for a football game, she agrees to deliver a baby. However, on the way home, she runs over a guy who we find out has been dead for a year. At first I assume she's just hallucinating since she's sleep deprived, but it turns out, not so much.

No one believes her and tries to convince her it was an animal she hit, but she's adamant that she ran over this dead guy. Then, he shows up at her house in the middle of the night. And she's so freaked out that she blows the fuse so Wade will come over and yell at her. She then talks him into staying on her couch so she won't be alone. Then, she wakes him up in the middle of the night to inform him that a body was never found after his boat capsized, so maybe he really is alive.

She heads out into the woods to try to find him. Wade ends up following her after she almost (or does?) get caught in a booby trap. And not long after that, the dead guy finally shows himself. Turns out, he was a pretty shitty husband and father, so after he did one heroic thing, he chose to fake his own death so they would remember him as a hero. Zoe convinces him to go back to his family.

While this is going on, Butter Bitch and her sister Magnolia have been fighting constantly. Later in the episode, Magnolia drinks to excess at a party and ends up with alcohol poisoning. Afterwards, she tells BB that it's because she's moving out with George and leaving her just like mom left them. And we sort of find out that BB has been parenting her since their mom left because Brick figured, why not? I hate that I want to feel bad for Lemon here. I hate her. But that doesn't mean she doesn't occasionally do decent things.

Eventually, George ends up blowing up at Brick telling him he needs to be an actual parent instead of leaving it to Butter Bitch, since that's not her job. He finally ends up grounding her and he and Lemon have a nice moment.

Oh, and Zoe's mom shows up trying to make amends. It doesn't go well. But honestly, I can understand why both of them acted the way they did. Sometimes there are no good ways to deal with something. I don't condone what her mom did, but once it's done you can't undo it. And the longer you go without dealing with something, the harder it gets. And it's just sort of your life.
