9-1-1 8X14: Sick Day

So we've got 9-1-1 meets Outbreak. And of course I don't realize it's a two parter and was very unhappy when I realized bitch lady took off with the cure and episode was over. Grrr.

Basically, we've got a crazy scientist lady who has taken it upon herself to shorten the incubation period of a virus that will kill you. In the name of science. So she can prove that she made a cure for it. At least I think that's what's going on. None of this overly important, I don't think. It's mainly just to get the actual meat of the story.

So, when her boss finds out she did this (which is way out of protocol), he fires her immediately. She runs up to the lab, knocks out her colleague (well ex colleague, I guess), steal his keycard, breaks into the room, steals the cure, and lights the lab on fire. Then, she flees.

The 118 heads over to put out the fire when they discover that this building is full of all the worst kinds of viruses that can kill you horribly. Fun. They think there are two people in there to be rescued, so they suit up in the firefighter version of hazmat, I guess, I go in. They make their way around putting out fires and calling out for victims. The find the first one immediately and he asks about Moira (the bitch lady who did this) so the 118 think we have another victim. He's taken out and we keep looking.

Not long after, we find Roz who is trapped in a room because the access panel to get her out melted. So, Chim heads up into the air vents and gets her out. Buck heads with her to a decontamination chamber (I think) to get her outside. But, as soon as they are in there, an explosion in the lab seals everything off and locks everything down. No one can get in or out.

Buck runs outside begging to be let back in, but he's told it's impossible. Athena shows up and the two of them try to figure out what's going on when the army shows up. While this is happening though, no one's had any communication with the team inside. The explosion knocked them all out. Bobby is the first one to come to and he's okay. So is Ravi. Chim is okay for the moment, but the blast knocked his face shield and he's no one protected from whatever viruses are now airborne. And Hen's been knocked out and has a collapsed lung.

They need to do surgery on her pretty much immediately since the army won't get to them for two hours or so, and Hen's only got 10 minutes. However, Howie is afraid that he's contaminated and isolates himself while he talks Bobby through the surgery. It works and Hen is fine, but Chim is now coughing up blood. When this gets back to the army guy, Roz tells the truth about crazy lady and her experiments. Well the army is no longer willing to save them. Not with an incubation period that short. He's not willing to risk all the surrounding people. Which, fair.

But, Roz tells them where the cure is. The army guy refuses to let them use it because if they virus gets out, they'll need it to make a vaccine. Ravi is on his way to get it, when army guys is all, 'If you do this, you're going to supermax prison.' So Bobby tells him to stand down. And the heartbreak on Chim's face when he realized he wasn't going to be saved was priceless. It was perfect. And horrible.

However, Bobby follows that up with. I'll get it. You don't need to do that. And Ravi is all, "Hey, I'm here already, let's save Chim!' But, when we open the container, no cure. Bitch lady stole it and took off.

And now we're fucking here.
