OMG. I hate it so, so much. I cannot express how much I hate this for Callie. I can sort of understand Sophia's role in this, she's just a kid. But Robert refusing to re-sign the papers is just absolute bullshit.
So, Callie has asked Robert to help her fundraise for Girls United since Rita was completely burnt out and had no more ideas on how to get the girls back together. The night before the fundraiser, Callie spends the night to spend some time with Sophia and also so she can help prepare. She and Sophia get along well, but Sophia is just enamored with Callie. She's acting like she hung the moon.
The next day, Callie is talking to Rita about how it might be okay if she let Robert in a little bit. So, during her speech, Callie calls him her father and talks a little bit about how they just reunited and she's grateful for it. But, she's also happy to be getting adopted by the Fosters. At the end of her speech, Sophia pulls her aside and tells her that while Robert signed the abandonment papers, she ripped them up and threw them away, so she can just stay as part of their family now.
Obviously, Callie is livid. She grabs Robert who apologizes for Sophia's actions, but tells her he can't re-sign the papers, as it killed him to do it the first time. Callie tells him she hates him, she'll never live with him or call him dad and storms out.
Brandon sees her running from the house and catching up with her. She tells him that Robert won't let her get adopted. But maybe it's all for the best since she had to give up so much to get adopted in the first place. And then she and Brandon start kissing. No. I was fine with this back at the beginning, but now it's just weird. They really have been living as siblings for a while now. I'll hold permanent judgment for a bit, but right now, I don't feel good about this.
In other news, Jude thinks that Connor's dad is hitting him. And he's spanking him (which he claims is his right), but they both swear his black eye was just an accident. But, either way, dad is pissed because Lena let Connor and Jude share a tent unsupervised on the camping trip. Which is an issue because Jude is gay. (Well according to Connor's dad he is, Jude hasn't identified that way). Lena loses her shit and up and quits her job because the school won't back her properly. And now Stef is pissed because, well she quit her job without talking to her about it. Who's surprised here. No one, I'm sure. The communication issues these two have are astounding.
But, at the fundraiser, Jude does allude to something happening on the camping trip with Connor that he things was wrong. We don't find out what that is, but I assume we're supposed to think it's something sexual, but I don't think it will be.
Mariana and Jesus meet with Ana. And after telling them that she's sorry she loved drugs more than she loved the two of them, Mariana is over it and just bails. She tells her she feels nothing for her and wants nothing to do with her. Fair. When Ana starts to cry, Jesus tries to comfort her but Ana tells him not to. It's not his job. He's the child and she may have let him in the past, but not anymore. No idea if we are gonna get more from this, but I hope so. Mariana needs this sort of storyline.
And Jesus is finally taking a bit of a break from Hayley. (Well really he's just choosing to be here for Callie and not doing whatever BS Hayley claims she needs him for that day- but it's a step). I'm hopeful that the two of them will be done in a couple of episodes. Then we can laser off or cover up that horrible tattoo.
