Okay, so, this episode was way sadder than it had any right to be. And my tissues were not close. I'm an ugly, crying mess. Just a heads up.
We've got Lena who had a small bout of dizziness, which quickly turned much worse. Just as Stef is leaving the confrontation with Mike (he's been helping Ana out- she's 60 days sober), she gets a call from Mariana (I think it was Mariana) to tell her that Lena passed out and was throwing up and they took her to the hospital. So far, she's okay, but she's on bed rest. However, the kids are not making it easy for her relax.
Mike and Dani stop by with a lasagna and ask to see Lena. But, Brandon immediately tries to keep Dani and Lena apart (remember Lena knows that they had sex), so Mike goes up on his own. And just as it looks like Lena is about to tell him, Brandon pops up and she ends up keeping quiet. Lena. Honey. You can not keep this a secret. I know now is a stressful time, but this needs to be taken care of right now. (Especially since Mike mentioned that he and Dani were thinking about having kids of their own).
While Lena doesn't say anything to Mike, she does tell Stef about Brandon and the pot. And she handles it much better than I thought she would. I'm very much, as long as you know where you're pot is coming from (so you know it's not laced with shit), it's pot. Who cares? But I didn't really expect Stef to be that way. Both she and Lena seemed to find it almost humorous. This scene was a little frustrating though, because, up until it's over, we didn't know if Lena had told Stef about Dani. And it turned out, she hadn't. Grrrrr.
The next day (I think it was the next day), Lena ends up back in the hospital. And we find out that she's got preeclampsia. And the only thing that is going to save her life, is having the baby. However, Lena is only 20 weeks pregnant, and there is zero chance that the baby will be born alive. So, Lena tells her to wait until the baby can be born viable, and the doctor tells her she'll be dead before that happens. Her options are the baby dies, or they both die. Fuck. Can we just let this woman have this? Please? No. We can not.
Lena is obviously not dealing with this well. Eventually, her mom shows up and basically convinces her that for the sake of her other five children, she's got to let this pregnancy go. I hate it. And everyone else does too. But, they'd all rather have Lena alive.
Outside of that, Callie finally Wyatt why she freaked out when they tried to have sex. He's very supportive and tells her he can wait as long as she needs. And she tells him she thought she worked through it, but apparently, she hasn't. She wants some time and space to do that. He's fine with it, as long as she talks to him about it.
Callie then takes that and turns it back on Jude, telling him she understands why he stopped talking, but he can't keep all the people that care about him in the dark. He's got to start talking again. And he does. When they get home from the hospital, he gives a little speech about them planting a tree to honor the sister they didn't get to meet.
Why am I never smart enough to keep tissues nearby? They are also just out of reach! Ugh. I'm sorry you have to look at me. Lol.
