So the mayor is definitely dead. April has no idea what she's doing, but she's totally fucking shit up. And the secret of all secrets seems to have been revealed.

We start at a memorial for Carol Lockwood where Elena thinks she sees Rebekah and goes to investigate. But, instead, she finds April, who apparently lured her there so Rebekah could appear and snap her neck. Eventually she compels both Elena and Caroline into the library, and calls Stefan to tell him that she's got Elena. He seems highly annoyed that his drinking session has been interrupted, but he shows up.

Once he gets there, Rebekah compels all of them to tell her the truth. So, Stefan ends up confessing that the professor can get the cure without the sword. Plus, she also finds out that she and Stefan broke up, Elena is sired to Damon, she slept with him, and the two things that killed Stefan: she slept with Damon, not because she was sired to him, but because she loves him; and while she still loves Stefan, she's not in love with him.

She sends Kol (yeah, Kol's back) to snatch the professor for her. Before they go and bug him about the cure, she calls up Tyler and has him come down to the library as well. As soon as he gets there, she instructs him to turn (knowing that he'll kill everyone in the library because Rebekah compelled them not to leave the school). Then she heads off to meet Kol.

Rebekah and Kol attempted to torture the truth about the cure out of Shane once they realize they can't compel him. He finally tells them that he doesn't care about the cure at all, he's interested in Silas, who the cure is buried with. Kol loses his shit at that and 'kills' him because he's petrified of Silas. However, while this is happening, Bonnie is doing some spells and somehow manages to save him (and also connects him to April somehow).

While this is all happening, Damon is still up at the lake house with Jeremy and Matt trying to teach Jeremy how to not die as a hunter. Eventually, Klaus shows up and is pissed that Jeremy hasn't killed any werewolves yet. So, he takes matters into his own hands. First, he sends a werewolf to the house, that Jeremy has to kill. Then, he brings Jeremy to a bar full of people in transition that he just killed.

Right before this happened, Elena called Damon to tell him that she loves him. He told her he's gonna find the cure for her, but he's gonna have to do a bunch of stuff she won't like in order to do it, and then tells her to come see him. And she says she's on her way.

And it looks like Stefan and Rebekah are going to form an alliance. It's basically first come, first serve for the cure right now. Klaus has Jeremy, Shane has Bonnie, and now, Stefan and Rebekah have each other.

Also, I did not realize that the sire bond between Damon and Elena was still in tact. I really thought that him sending her away broke it. But it seems like he needs to cure her to break it. Now that I realize that, it totally makes sense, but you know, I'm me, so.
