Okay, so, I watched this several days ago, and I did the thing I always say I'm going to stop doing. I did not write the recap here immediately. Sigh. So, this is what I remember of this episode.
Nini and Ricky do a gift of the Magi deal where they both end up going to see the other, but neither are there because, see gift of Magi. They have, however, both written a song for the other as a Valentine's Day gift, but one of Nini's moms broke her ankle so she and Ricky are having a hard time getting together (even though they are back in the same town now). Unfortunately, they never actually manage to see each other, but they do sing to each other over voicemail. And these songs sound great together. Again, I don't know who writes the music for this show, but I'm continuously impressed by them.
Meanwhile, Kourtney is busy being a boss bitch. She's gotten a management job at Red's pizza shop. And she's owning it. (Not that we expected it to be any different. Kourtney is the best). At first she butts heads a bit with one of the long(ish) term employees, but by the end, they're good terms. Do we suspect romance here? I don't, but I'd be okay with it. I just want all the good things for Kourtney.
Gina is sad that she doesn't get her usual bear from her mom on Valentine's Day. She tries to talk to Ricky about it, but he's busy trying to stay in touch with Nini. I cannot tell if the two of them are going to get together, or if this is just unrequited on Gina's part. Either way, later she gets a valentine and assumes it's from Ricky (per their previous conversation) and texts him a thank you, but then discovers her mom actually sent it. So, yay mom! Coming in clutch at the end. But, Gina is super embarrassed to have assumed it came from Ricky. I wonder if that text is gonna be used as 'evidence' of him cheating on Nini later if the two of them end up getting together.
Ashlyn is feeling insecure about being the lead. Red tells her she'll be great. He tries to plan an over the top Valentine's Day gift, but she's much more low key, and they end up having a pretty nice day.
Plus, Seb is trying to figure out what to get Carlos for Valentine's Day. I forgot that Carlos comes from money, so Seb is struggling with this. I was pleading for him to give Carlos a cow, but to no avail. He ended up getting him a plant. Which, fine, it works thematically, but I really wanted a cow for Carlos! I really hope at some point we get an episode on the farm.
