Outlander 7X9: Unfinished Business

Ha ha. This bitch thought she was gonna make it through an episode of Outlander without crying. But I feel like I'm gonna be so confused with 3 timelines. If we just stick to really 2 an episode like we did here, I should be fine.

Okay, so we're back at Lallybroch. They're happy. I'm happy. Jenny and Young Ian are sort of happy. Why? It turns out Ian has consumption (which I had to double check was TB) and there really isn't anything Claire can do for him. So we have to watch him be very uncomfortable, while poor Jenny gets more and more distraught at the thought of losing him.

However, we get really lovely moments with Young Ian and both of his parents. Telling his dad about Rachel and how he didn't ask her to wait for him (but, you know, left her his dog) and his dad telling him if she's as wonderful as he says, he should seal the deal. They also talk about Ian's Mohawk wife and their baby that didn't make it and the one that did. Turns out, Jenny set up a headstone in the cemetery for her. And she did it in both English and Mohawk. Then tells Ian that he needs to go back to Rachel. He wants to stick around since his dad doesn't have much time left, but his dad wants him to live his life and be happy.

Meanwhile, Jamie and Claire get a letter from Lord John telling them that he desperately needs Claire to do surgery on someone he knows (I cannot remember who). They both decline immediately wanting to be there for Ian, but Jenny tells Claire if she can save a life, she's got to go; Jamie can stay. No. We just fucking got back. Why are you ripping them apart? I hate this. I do not want the two of them apart for the whole damn season. (Which it very well might be. They are in Scotland, Claire needs to go back to Philadelphia. That's a hell of a trek in 1780? Where are we now in time?) They decide that she and Young Ian will travel together so he can get back to Rachel.

Oh, and Claire tells the whole family that she's a time traveler. Mostly because she wants to save Michael from the French Revolution. And with Young Ian and Jaime to vouch for her, again, this goes over better than it should.

While they are here, Jamie heads over to see Laoghaire and apologize to her. She immediately assumes he wants to stop paying her now that Joanie is older and refuses. He tries to tell her that's not what this is about, but she just wants to shit on him. Oh, and she's sort of dating the farmhand, I think.

Afterwards, Joanie comes to Jamie and tells him she wants to be a nun, but mom won't allow it. Jamie brokers a deal with Ned Gowan (who is somehow still alive) to stop paying alimony to Laoghaire, but she gets her land in her name, and Joanie gets to go to a convent. Oh, and she gets to marry the farmhand. I don't really know what's going on here, but it seems like a win/win/win for everyone.

Meanwhile, Roger and Buck have come through the stones looking for Jemmy. They decide that Roger will go to Lallybroch and Buck to Inverness. However, when Roger gets to Lallybroch, it turns out, that he encounters not Jamie, but Jamie's dad. Somehow the stones took them like 30 years too early. And Buck seems to have a bad reaction to the travel and they head over to the local herbalist and it's who? Fucking Gellis. I don't think she knows Roger and Buck yet, but Roger certainly knows her. And I just realized now that Buck is Gellis' son. No idea if they are gonna be able to recognize each other. This is where the timeline stuff is gonna mess with me. Lol.

Also, I just wanna point out, that I went into this expecting to be very confused. But I was only, like, 10% confused. That is such a big win for me.
