Sons of Anarchy 5X9: Andare Pescare

Fuck. We were so fucking close. But of course, yet a-fucking-gain, Clay wins.

Jax and Clay are both desperate to find Frankie before the other. Clay, so he can kill him to make sure he keeps his mouth shut; and Jax so he can get the truth about Clay (and you know, trade him for the rat). Clay and Juice get to Frankie first. And Juice immediately tries to call Jax, but Clay manages to talk him out of it.

Word gets to Frankie that they are coming, and he immediately shoots the Italian guy whose there with him. Clay, Juice, and Frankie get into a shoot out. Clay decides to try to blow up the house (the explosion is pretty to look at, but it doesn't really seem to do much, but draw the attention of Jax and the others who are racing over there now).

Juice pulls a gun on Frankie, who immediately calls out Clay for starting this whole thing. Juice seems confused, but I thought he and Clay already had that discussion. Either way, him hesitating gives Clay time to come in. They've all got guns on each other when Jax and Co. show up, along with the Italians. As soon as they see their dead friend, they shoot Frankie dead. Fuck. We didn't even get to do it. It's fairly annoying.

Later, Bobby tries to confront Clay about his involvement in the home invasions and he doesn't give a fuck. He's all, 'my conscious is clear.' Bro, it should fucking be.

Anyway, Jax and Eli meet up so they can exchange a now dead Frankie for the rat. Eli is pissed. But it doesn't matter. Jax already knows the rat is Juice. (I still contend you could throw Happy into the mix, but Jax knows them both better than I do, so 🤷‍♀️). This prompts Jax to start tailing Juice. I wanna say they aren't gonna kill Juice in a random episode, but I didn't think they'd kill Opie in a random episode either.

Meanwhile, Tara goes back to see Otto in prison. She brings some of LuAnn's perfume and it some crazy effect on Otto. First it makes it want to jerk off my Tara holds his head (she's strangely okay with his), then he just sobs like a baby. He really fucking loved his wife, didn't he? Either way, Tara thinks she's broken through and he'll end up recanting his statement. I don't know. That seems a little like she's just hoping and trying to play it off as more confident, but we'll see.

And it looks like Gemma is gonna try to play both sides. She still wants Nero, but also wants her family back. For most of this episode, she and Nero are on a date (I guess, if you include B&E, and cemeteries, and meeting Nero's kid as a date- but he did buy her birds, so she's all in), but by the end, she's at Clay's house offering to inject his hands. For a minute I thought maybe she was shooting him up with something else and trying to just kill him herself, but that does not seem to be the case. Sigh. I'll take a dead Clay anyway I can at this point.
