Okay, so we're all slowly finding out that Alaric isn't actually dead and we need a way to kill him since his only mission seems to be to kill everyone vampire or vampire friendly.
Klaus and Rebekah decide to head out of town. The certainly don't want an unkillable vampire hunter anywhere near them. However, Klaus refuses to leave without Elena, and Rebekah refuses to wait for him, so she heads off. Klaus heads over to Elena's to try to get her, but Damon and Stefan won't let him in. So, Klaus takes to just throwing stuff into the house like it's a javelin toss.
While this is happening, Alaric calls Elena and tells her that he's going to kill Caroline so if she wants to save her, she needs to get to the school. Oh, and obviously, not tell anyone. Once she shows up, she finds Caroline confined to a chair with pencils stabbed through her hands, and vervain soaked cloth in her mouth. Eventually, Elena tricks Alaric long enough for Caroline to get free, but Elena is still trapped.
Outside the school, Bonnie does a spell with her blood so that we can desiccate Alaric, which stops his heart. In order to do this though, we need to also stop a human heart, as magic has a price. They come up with a plan. Inside the school, Klaus takes on Alaric, and finds out that the stake doesn't do anything to him. Just as Alaric is about to stake Klaus, Elena realizes that he needs her alive. They are tied to each other and if one dies, so does the other. She threatens to kill herself, and Alaric backs off. Giving Klaus enough time to kidnap Elena.
His new plan, is to simply bleed her dry. He'll take as much blood from her as he can right now, and then she'll die and so will Alaric. However, while this is taking place, Tyler wanders over and sees what's happening and calls Damon (I think). They rush over and do the desiccation spell on Klaus instead, which effectively kills him, but since he isn't actually dead, Tyler (and whoever was sired from his bloodline) continues to live. Oh, and the heart they stop is Jeremy's but they he just comes back to life, so it's fine. At least for right now it is.
During the fight though, Elena ends up bashing her head into the floor pretty badly. She claims she's okay though. She's totally not.
Damon and Stefan head off on a roadtrip to get rid of Alaric's body (they plan to dump it in the ocean). But, before they leave, Elena apologizes to them. She doesn't mean to be stringing them along, but as soon as she makes a decision, she's going to lose one of them and she doesn't want that. In the car, they decide that whichever one she chooses, the other will disappear and stay out of the way. Which is exactly what she didn't want.
Meanwhile, Alaric has called an emergency council meeting in the middle of the night. Where he tells the everyone that Liz's daughter is a vampire and Mrs. Lockwood's son is a hybrid. And that they aren't in a position to be on this council anymore.
And then, at the end of the episode, Elena grabs her head and keels over. At first I thought she had a concussion, but there is blood dripping out of her nose and she's unconscious, so probably not that. Also, she lost so much blood, I don't think it's a good sign that she's losing more.
Also, this really felt like a season finale. I had to double check that there was actually another episode.
While this is going on, Pocket Boy gets to his ex's house only to discover that she's left. But Bellick and Geary have the jump on him. They knock him out, tie him out, and when he comes to demand to know where he hid the money. (This asshole put 5 million in a locker at the bus station). When he won't tell, Bellick begins to torture him.
Finally, Sara figures out where Michael wants to meet. It's a hotel in New Mexico. Using the woman's wallet, she books a ticket. Kellerman finds out and tells Mahone. He's got a town in New Mexico and the date, but not where. But I feel like that might be enough.
