Um, you're telling me I wasted all those tears on Alaric's death only for him not to die?!? π€£ And I was so caught up in that, that I forgot what was happening and was very confused when he turned into a vampire.
So Esther and evil Alaric are friends now. They both have the same goal, kill all the Originals, which in turn, kills all the vampires. Esther, in Rebekah's body, convinces Klaus to go to the school dance which traps the vampires in the building after they put a salt spell on it. This gives Esther and Alaric time to work without being interrupted.
Elena, believing she can save Alaric, heads over to the mausoleum they are hanging out in, but Alaric is unwilling to cooperate. Esther has made him an indestructible vampire killing weapon (using his melted down ring) and is now going to turn him into an Original vampire. But, you know, he's also a vampire hunter, so he'll be like Mikael, but worse.
After she does this spell on him, the spell at the gym breaks so everyone can head over. Esther informs Elena that once Alaric wakes up from the spell, he'll be his old self for a little while, so she can say goodbye. When Alaric does wake up, Elena is forced to tell him what happened, because he doesn't remember what he does when he's evil Alaric.
And he makes the decision, not to complete the transition to becoming a vampire. He'll just lock himself in the tomb and let himself die. Nurse lady gives him some meds so he'll go peacefully, and Damon sits with him drinking bourbon until he finally dies.
However, back at home, Bonnie has some kind of dream about Esther (who, Alaric killed by the way) who tells her she's going to help Alaric complete his transition. As Damon is walking out of the tomb, Bonnie is walking in sort of in a trance. When Damon tries to talk to her, she just uses her witch powers to immobilize him. Then she cuts herself and forces Alaric to drink her blood. He snaps back to life, bites her in the neck, drinks and turns into a vampire.
Ugh. Is there anyway that we can spin this so it's positive for us?
