So, in order to spend more time with Lexi, Jesus wants to go to a church retreat. However, Stef is skeptical because she doesn't want the church to fill Jesus' head with garbage about how his family is an abomination.
But, it turns out the dinner is going fairly well. Lexi's parents have some concerns about her being at the house now that she and Jesus are dating. They request that they not be alone in rooms (it doesn't need to be a parent, siblings are okay) and just some general guidelines. However, the talk ends up back at the camp and Stef voices are concerns.
Lexi's mom assures them that girl and boys have separate cabins and they will be there to chaperone. These are not things Lexi is worried about. She explains her hesitation with how Christianity might view her family, but they assure here that there is no issue. They love the Fosters and fully believe that happy families are happy families in whatever form. It's nice to hear.
But, Stef's somewhat bigoted father (he claims he has no issue with queer people, but feels strongly that marriage should be between a man and woman, chime in and asks what kind of Catholics they are. And they're like, the kind who loves people? And then. THEN. They tell him that everyone picks and chooses the parts of the bible they want to follow. I mean it's true, you can't follow everything. Half that stuff conflicts with the other half. But eventually Jesus pipes in and tells his moms to give him some credit. He's not just going to decide he feels weird about this family.
While this is happening, Callie has to go to a support group for foster kids. She hears that one of the other girls is in a home she used to be in and asks her for coffee (although she doesn't tell her that's why). After talking for a bit, Callie asks about Liam. The girl claims she never mentioned his name was Liam, clammed up and left.
Later, Callie and Mariana go to a party at Wyatt's. It was supposed to be a small affair, but when they show up, it's a rager. Mariana finds Kelsey (who is fresh out of rehab) who tells her that Jesus and Lexi had sex. She's so upset she starts getting drunk. Meanwhile, Callie is off with Wyatt who is upset that his house is getting foreclosed on and bashing the hell out of the walls. She comforts him, but they decide it's time to go.
While waiting for Mariana to get out of the bathroom, Callie is confronted by Liam. We don't get any backstory. But he's aggressive and a bit handsy. Thankfully, Wyatt shows up and breaks it up. They grab Mariana who is so drunk she is stumbling, and walk home. At the house, Callie is trying to calm Mariana down so she doesn't act drunk in front of her moms and tries to sneak her upstairs.
However, the dinner is still going on and Lexi's parents call her over. She says hi, and stumbles, and Stef knows immediately she's drunk. (Cop, remember?) Mariana then spills the beans that Jesus and Lexi have had sex and the dinner party breaks up.
Stef and Lena try to talk to Mariana about it, but she's drunk, so they tell her they'll talk about to tomorrow. They run into Callie on the way out of the bathroom and thank her for taking care of Mariana and for not drinking herself. They beg her to call them for help if she finds them in that situation again. I was so happy they weren't upset with her.
But, when Callie crawls into bed, she get an Instagram message from Liam saying the picture of the tree she posted was right outside her bedroom window. So, we've got a stalker. Yay. But, plus side, foster mom is a cop. Maybe she'll help. If Callie can bring herself to ask for it.
And then we've got Mike who was supposed to take Brandon to his piano audition, but got there late because he'd been drinking. Brandon is rattled and messes up his audition. Mike begs the teacher to give her another shot and he finally acquiesces. But, he'd already given away the scholarship earlier that day. He does agree to give Brandon lessons, but it's going to be about $1200/month. Mike claims he'll pay for it, but that's going to mean taking on another job so we'll see. He's not doing super well right now with only one.
