Am I supposed to be shipping Callie and Brandon? I kind of feel like I want to, but it also just feels wrong. 🤷♀️
So Mariana's quinceañera is finally here. And it seems like it costing a lot. Especially now that Callie and Jude are here. Stef seems concerned, but Lena is adamant that she should have everything she wants.
Apparently, it's traditional for there to be a father/daughter dance, but Mariana is planning to do the dance with her moms. However, Lena can see that she's uncomfortable about it. She mentioned it to Stef, and Mariana is asked how she feels about it. Turns out, she'd rather to the dance with Mike. (Who, by the way, offers to help pay for some of this). Both Lena and Stef act like it's fine, but Jesus is not happy about it.
Meanwhile, Callie confronts Talya about reading her journal and she admits it, saying she doesn't trust Callie. At the quinceañera, Brandon is supposed to be Callie's escort, but at the last minute, Callie switches them as to not have anymore issues with Talya. She begs Brandon to talk to her and explain that there is nothing going on between them. But, when he tries to talk to her about it, she confesses to reading Callie's journal and Brandon is disgusted by this and breaks up with her. She begs him to ask Callie about Liam though.
Later, when Callie and Brandon are together, he tells her that he broke up with her because she read Callie's journal, but promises that he doesn't know what's in it. And he doesn't want or need to know- he knows exactly who Callie is. At this point, Callie basically takes off. I assume she's feeling like Brandon would not feel the same way about her if he knew about whatever happened with Liam. And Callie heads off to the beach with the other anti-journal writing guy.
Back at the party, Mariana overhears Jesus and Lexi discussing their 'relationship.' Lexi wants them to stop seeing each other because it would upset Mariana and she's her best friend. Jesus says she let her moms pay an exorbitant amount of money for this party and then refused to dance with her moms. Plus, she's still talking to her birth mom even after what she did to her. Jesus is adamant that they keep seeing each other. I would be annoyed, but it seems like Lexi is into thjs.
However, Mariana, not so much. After she and Lexi end up in the bathroom at the same time, Mariana tells her she knows what's going on. Plus, she didn't think it was very BBF-like to not defend her to her brother. I mean, I guess, but all of those things are true about you, honey. It's a very different scenario if he was just making fun of you or lashing out for no reason. But, the fight doesn't seem to last long. They seem to have made up before the end of the party. And she's apologized to her moms about the dancing (and they end up dancing around at the end), so no real harm here done.
Also, Mike ends up getting a little too drunk and Brandon needs to take him home. I really do think he's lonely. Especially after this. Seeing how close the rest of them are, and he's all alone.
