Um, I know I only have 84 minutes of experience with this show, but I am solidly on not Team Mike. How can you have a say in this if you don't live in the damn house? Or talk to your kid less than 15 minutes a week? No. You can express frustration, but ultimately, the decisions are Stef's and Lena's.
Anyway, after the antics of last week, Stef sits down with Brandon and decides he's not going to get grounded. She and Lena really think he understands the situation, why he shouldn't have put himself in it, and that he doesn't have plans to do it again. However, Mike doesn't agree. He thinks Brandon should be punished. A huge fight ensues and Brandon claims his dad doesn't see or talk to him often enough to have an opinion about this. I think I made my feelings on this clear already. But somehow, we all end up agreeing with Mike? Don't like it. Brandon calls to apologize. Don't like it. Mike says he wants to be a more active parent. I support this.
And speaking of Brandon, he's been spending some time with Callie lately. They share both a house and an affinity for music. However, Brandon's girlfriend (whose name start with a 'T' but that's all I've got) is starting to get jealous of how much time he's with her. After the grounding, he was going to make a grand gesture of sneaking out so he could spend the night with her, but ended up lying and saying he couldn't get away, when really, he was just hanging out with Callie. I don't know how I feel about this. It's probably a bad idea for foster siblings to date.
It seems like Mariana (I got her name wrong 100 times in this episode. I'm sorry. I looked it up for this description) is finally about to get busted for selling Jesus' meds. So, a teacher finds a note about pills in the trash and brings it to Lena. They have a random locker search, which doesn't turn up anything, but Mariana and Jesus looked freaked out. Later, Lena is in the bathroom when one of the girls Mariana sold the drugs to (I assume they are Adderall) and demands to know who she got them from. Bitch LIES and says Callie since she's an easy scapegoat.
Now, to be fair, I think Stef and Lena handle the situation with Callie as best they can. They don't accuse her. They ask. They say, 'we heard this, is it true?' Callie says no. And they send her away to figure out what to do. Mariana comes out to ask if Callie ratted her out and she didn't. Who would believe her anyway?
Jesus is all like, really, you're gonna let her take the fall for this? They're gonna send her back to juvie. Mariana decides to come clean. But, at the last second, Jesus jumps in and takes the fall for her. I'm pretty sure Jesus is my favorite character right now. I might regret that as it's only episode 2, but I'm gonna say it anyway.
I'm worried. So much shit has happened since Callie has shown up (and most of it isn't her fault) that I'm afraid she might get blamed for. But, after they hear the 'truth' from Jesus, they tell Callie they still need to earn her trust and it's a pretty nice moment.
But, not long after, they decide that they cannot be the permanent home for Callie and Jude. I hate this. However, they are willing to house them for as long as it takes to find a forever place. I still hate it. Just let them stay! I mean, maybe they do. It ran for 5 seasons (I think). But it could be about this family fostering other kids. I'm sad. And I'm not sure I need to be. Lol.
