Ugh. You guys. This is show is gonna break me, isn't it? It's been one episode and I'm already crying? How am I gonna make it five seasons?
So Callie is just getting out of juvie. However, the foster home she was supposed to go to, ends up not working out, so they call Lena (who is already a foster of twins) to see if she'll take her. After not being able to get in touch with her wife, she just ends up taking her home and surprising the rest of the family.
The couple adopted the twins about five years ago, and one of them has a son from their first marriage, but I don't remember which mom it was. Either way, Callie ends up getting thrown into the mix with zero warning.
When she got out of juvie she'd been begging for them to let her call Jude. I assumed it was her boyfriend (I think we were supposed to), but it turns out, it's her younger brother and Callie is desperate to get him out of the foster dad he's been living with. She can handle him beating up on her, but not Jude. Especially if she's not around to protect him.
So, with the help of Brandon (the son from one of the mom's), she ditches school and take the bus down to the house (which is fairly far away). While this is going on, the moms realize they are missing and track Brandon's phone. They get to the house, not long after the kids do. However, Brandon is at the first door trying to distract him to Callie can grab Jude, but he sees her and immediately pulls a fucking gun. The fuck old man.
Thankfully, just as this is happening, the mom's (plus one of their exes who is now one of their police partner's) see this from outside the house and rush in. As soon as cop mom is in the house, she sees Callie sprint over to Jude and wrap him up in a hug. And she's pretty much done after that. She can see how those kids have been living and is immediately, like, nope. To our house they come. They don't have any idea how they are going to make this work, but they are going to.
Meanwhile, Mariana (one of the twins) is busy selling her brother's drugs. Eventually, he catches her and she said she needed the money for her birth mom. Oh, BTW, their mom's had been trying to set up a meeting with their birth mom, but at the last minute, Mariana said she didn't want to go (Jesus never did). But, it turns out, she's been chatting online with her mom who had asked her for money. When she finally meets up with her mom, she's excited to see her and then crushed when mom basically asks for the money and leaves.
Oh, and in the middle of all this, Brandon was supposed to be playing some sort of piano contest to get a scholarship, but he ditched it to help Callie. This isn't super important, I don't think, be it's used (very well if you ask me) to help set up the kind of person he is.
Now, I'm kind of happy you guys voted 3 days a week for this. I'm already ready to watch the next one.
