The Vampire Diaries 3X8: Ordinary People

Oh, I really enjoyed this episode. We got more of the backstory for the original vampires. And I'm struggling not to look up Elena/Damon fanfic.

So we figure out that the cave drawings basically tell the story of the original vampires (who were not vampires then) coming to Mystic Falls. But, we also find out that Klaus lied to Rebekah (and I guess Elijah too) about Michael killing their mother. Turns out, it was him (Klaus) but he lied to keep the siblings together.

Anyway, the original family was living in harmony with a bunch of werewolves. As long as the family stayed indoors during a full moon, all was good. But, Klaus and and his younger brother Henrik, went out to watch one night, and Henrik got attacked and died. Afterward, Michael wanted to be able to protect his children from the werewolves, so he turned them into vampires. (And then we get the bit about Klaus being sired by a werewolf when mom cheated, but we already knew that bit). But it was mom, who was the original witch, that put the curse on Klaus to make sure his werewolf never showed.

Meanwhile, Damon decides to free Stefan and he takes him to a bar. Damon drinks alcohol, while Stefan drinks the bartender. Eventually, Stefan asks why Damon broke him out. And Damon tells him keeping him locked up wasn't gonna work. Stefan asks if he thought the brotherly bonding was the way to go. But Michael shows up and starts to ask Stefan about Klaus. Being compelled not to say anything, Stefan just smart mouths him. However, when the threatened to rip Damon's heart out if Stefan doesn't tell him something, Stefan relents and claims he can get Klaus to come here. Satisfied, Michael leaves.

Once the brothers leave, Stefan makes sure that Damon knows that he didn't do that to save him. This is all for his own interest. Once, he's free of Klaus' compulsion, he can be leave and get the hell out of Mystic Falls.

Later, Elena and Damon are debriefing (she was working on Rebekah and thinks she made some progress) and she tells him that Stefan is going to be the one to bring him back this time. He won't be coming back for Elena, but for his brother. It's actually really sweet, but it also just makes me want to read that fanfic. Lol.
