One Tree Hill 9X1: Know This, We've Noticed

Okay, first off, if we have to put up with Chris Keller this whole season, I'm not going to be happy. I really, really dislike this guy. He's just incredibly annoying. Nothing at all about him is entertaining or interesting. He's just like a caricature of a person. However, if we are getting Dan back all season, I'll be thrilled. I mean, I hate him, but the show is just better when he's around.

This opening is insane. Dan's diner burns down. He and Chris Keller are somewhere with guns. Brooke is savagely destroying the cafe. I think Julian is getting beaten up. Quinn and Clay are in a screaming match and he throws her out. And someone is dead? WTH is happening? I guess we found the drama we've been missing last season.

So, pretty much no one is sleeping this episode. Or sleeping properly, at least. Brooke and Julian are getting zero sleep with the babies. Which, makes sense, honestly. Brooke has taken to driving them around all night. I'm fairly certain that she's going to observe something she wasn't meant to see (probably by Dan) while doing this.

Clay is sleepwalking all of a sudden. It doesn't look like it's been a probably before, but now it's happening frequently and Quinn in concerned. He's ending up far from home.

Nathan has been away for a while. I assume it's something work related. So Haley hasn't been sleeping well.

Anyway, Chris Keller is here to take over the record studio. Gag me. I hate him. Haley immediately refuses, but I guess her boss signed off on it. He continues to hit on her while telling her, he's not going to. Gross. The first thing he does is tear apart Alex's song. But, ultimately, does end up making it better.

Brooke is baptizing the twins, and for some reason wants her father to be the godfather. No idea way. And even though it looks like he won't show, he does last minute. And who else shows up, but Dan. He tells Haley about his diner burning down and needs a place to stay for a couple of days. She's reluctant, but eventually says he can stay unless Nathan says otherwise.

We've also got two mysterious door openings. One early morning at the cafe (that Haley sort of attributes to Brooke leaving exhausted) and then again at her house. We also see someone trying to get in. Maybe it's Dan? Perhaps he's been staying there and at the cafe, but afraid he'd get caught and decided to ask for permission?

This actually looks like it's going to be a fun season. Maybe that's just because Dan is here and I know I'm gonna get a ton of drama.

I'm so excited for your reactions. I love season 9. It's not perfect. Speaking generally there are some plots one could do without but it's such a departure from S8 especially and I loved S8 for what it was but S9 has a special place in my heart. It's so early I don't really feel like I can say more than this but it's a great season for a lot of characters/relationship dynamics :)

Yes...this opening is insane as you said. Between Nathan doing the opening and ending voiceovers, and that beginning montage of what's to come this season, with the clue that both Dan Scott and Chris Keller are back....yay, that might be the very best one of the entire series. You quickly learn that S9 isn't going to be anything like S8...and thank God for that, lol!!! I have a feeling that you won't be disappointed in the least, not overall anyways, hehe. And yes...this basically picks up right where the ending of 8x22 left off, after we got the year jump throughout that episode. So, Brooke's twins are still babies, and Lydia is over a year...a toddler now, so hopefully that clears up the timeline of things, lol. Nathan has been travelling for work and is finally headed home, but not before he calls Haley very early in the mornings and checks in with her. His "Goodnight Angel" line gets me every time. And I love that he always brings Lydia back a new stuffed animal from his trips....awwww indeed!!!! Dan's diner has burned down, and he needs a place to stay so he immediately seeks out Haley. That scene in the church between Dan and Haley is golden. Love how that conversation went as Dan was looking on at Lydia and realizing how much he's missing out on by not being able to be a part of Naley's family like he wants. The emotion is all so raw and palpable. So poignant indeed. We finally get to meet Brooke's father, and the banter between Ted and Victoria in the church cracks me up indeed, especially while Victoria is holding Lydia, lol. The chemistry is great between those two and you really buy into the fact that their entire marriage was probably like that, lol. Great casting indeed. And poor Brulian are sleep deprived indeed taking care of infant twins, and I very much enjoyed that story for them, as it's a more realistic look at parenting. And Clay is sleepwalking all over town and waking up in parks and whatnot. You are going to be in for a real surprise with his and Quinn's storyline. You will never guess it in a million years, lol. Rob is definitely an MVP with it though.... he does so good as Clay here. And that ending scene when Dan goes to pick up Lydia from her crib and in walks Nathan.....uh oh!!! It's chilling indeed, and yet so poignant at the same time. There are a million conflicting emotions that run through the characters and the audiences' minds, and it was written oh so good. To see the 3 generations of Scott's in that room in Dan, Nathan, and little Lydia...the resemblance is uncanny. It's a reminder of how good the casting is because Paul and James have always been shoo-ins for father and son, and Lydia is the spitting image of Nathan as well. It's funny because Nathan always said that he wanted a little girl just like Haley, but his daughter is his clone, lol, and you'll see it over the course of this season, hehe. It's adorable and a wonderful reminder of just how beautiful the Naley family really is :)
