Tell Me Lies 1X1: Lightening Strikes

Okay, so this is yet another show that I'd never heard of. I guessed it was a romantic thriller based on the thumbnail on Hulu, and I might not be that far off.

So, I cannot be the only one whose getting horrible rapey vibes from Steven, right? I'm going to feel so guilty if it turns out he's actually a good guy, but if he does, I have the worst intuition. You just know there is something off about this dude. Now, to be fair, he does do everything a guy should do. He's respectful, he listens, he doesn't push. But, I think this is just to lure us in and make us believe he's a good guy.

Anyway, so Lucy is at the engagement party of her college friends and she tells her current boyfriend not to come. When her friends all ask why he's not there, she tells them he has to work. I can only assume it's because Steven still has his hooks in her and she wants to be free to end up with him if she wants to. But this is totally speculation at this point.

But, most of this is told in flashback to Lucy's first week of college where she met Steven and all her closest friends who are at this party.

Shortly after they arrive, Lucy's roommate asks her to go to a party with her and Lucy says no. Turns out, the roommate died on the way home. She hit a tree and they found that she was drinking. I think we are supposed to just go with this. However, later, we find out that Wrigley's brother Drew (you remember Wrigley, he's all over Pippa) is convinced he did something terrible that night. (Although, why he'd ask for Steven and not Wrigley is beyond me at this point). So, I guess we're maybe supposed to assume he had something to do with it?

This definitely has mystery vibes going on. And I'm here for it. But, be forewarned, I'm going to feel stupid when I don't figure out what's going on. (I always feel like an idiot when I don't connect the dots before they tell me 🤣).

Also, here's to hoping I don't get horribly confused on timelines. But, so far, so good!
