I loved this beginning episode of season 6. I loved that they were actually allowed to film at The Magic Castle (even Jon Armstrong popped up for a tiny cameo- I believe he is based there now any way) The call back to the Pilot episode was great and also I liked that Luci learned that the Motor cycle cop hadn't really prospered after Luci's previous 'help' showing Luci that his ideas about helping change lives isn't always easy or as you would expect...I think this feeds into Luci's misgivings now for he has the 'Top' job, he won, the world is his to command and yet he now realises the enormity of the role he thought he wanted and maybe he doesn't actually know how to do it! I loved this angle for the old Luci who thought he knew better than his Dad would likely have blundered into Heaven, making commands and changes without recognising the implications. I do feel that Luci has grown and matured ( a little, maybe, as this is Lucifer!) and realises he has to get this right. I didn't feel he was regressing or had any Daddy issues any more as he said to Chloe when they were cuddling on the couch in the Penthouse towards the end, it isn't about feeling not worthy any more but more about job description...this is the most important job in the universe and it's not just about sitting on the throne but actually doing the right things for all of the universe and making a difference. He needs time after all the fears, fights and danger to work out what this means now it seems it is up to him. I too like bad ass Maze but I think she will always be bad ass to a certain degree but I also want her to be happy in her own way, not always fighting, hitting out and being lonely and damned like the lost souls of hell she once tortured (some we know don't deserve to be there) or hating herself for being just a demon. I love Maze and I hope she finds a happy balance of 'bad assery' and love- she deserves it all. I also liked the case of the week (though I think this will be less important now we have come so far) because it showed us Ella was still 'Ella' and introduced again to Carol Corbett (but not enough so that we know every thing about him yet) and it showed us how Chloe is struggling not to be who she is- the detective and opened up possibilities of how this knowledge will play out now we know she has given it up to support Luci- but how will that support work, or look like and will it be a good future for Chloe? This episode, I felt laid out its' 'Store' for us to browse in and also opened up lots of questions that we will need answering... about future god situation...relationships...AND then just as I was wondering all of that and feeling excited to see how this season is going to play out for all our favourite characters we get that ending with some woman obviously bad assey with those statement shoes and restless tapping fingers, sitting on Luci's throne? WTF? I couldn't wait for episode 2. (Actually I didn't- I binged my way through all ten episodes!) I am now taking my time with my fave reactors (it's a very small select group- LOL) to really dig deeper into each episode, look for all the easter eggs, nuances and intricate little details that it is easy to miss when breezing through. I love everyone's different 'takes' on the series and what they feel about the characters. All I will say, no spoilers is that I was blown away by this season and to step out of the belief in the story as real for a moment- the actors all brought their A game and were phenomenal! The music too was as good as ever and some of the songs (sung by the cast but also on the soundtrack and not sung by cast) felt like the lyrics had been written just for this Show. I do hope you love it too because I have loved sharing this journey with you and felt so much of what you said is exactly as I felt about so much of this amazing story. I really want you to love season 6 too...here's hoping- let the final journey begin... Celia x
