Stranger Things 4X9: Episode 9: The Piggyback
Added 2024-11-23 02:30:01 +0000 UTCOkay, so let's go with no more 2+ hour episodes in S5. It's so late, but I need to get this out today, so this description will probably be shorter than usual.
So, we've got a very concrete plan to fight Vecna. Max finds Vecna in the house. She torments him into trying to kill her. The group heads into the upside down. Eddie and Dustin are on bat patrol (they are distracting them away from the rest of the group). Once Max his been possessed (for lack of a better term) by Vecna; Nancy, Steve, and Robin hit him with Molotov cocktails and guns.
While this is happening, El is also attacking the Vecna in the Upside Down. AND, Hopper and Murray are attacking from Russia. It really is a joint conquest.
And, while El and the others are able to disable Vecna, he does manage to kill Max. So, this opens the gate and tears through Hawkins. El, manages to bring Max back to life, but she's still in a coma.
I thought I was living for the Hopper and Joyce reunion, but really, it was all about Hopper and El. I cannot tell you how much I needed the two of them to get back together.
However, even though they were able to win the battle, the war is not won. Vecna disappeared after Nancy shot him out the window. And Will claims he can still feel him, so we're definitely not done yet. (You know, hence, S5).

1) Lucas, Max, and Erica were keeping their shoes off in the Creel house in order to be more quiet. they don't want to tip off Vecna until they were ready. (2) The old guy near the beginning who saw Erica tipped off Jason. He's one of the people we saw at the town meeting when the whole town decided they were gonna go rogue and try to find Eddie themselves. (3) The big spider lookin monster that Vecna sees in the Upside Down is the Mind Flayer. The Mind Flayer has also been called the Shadow Monster and Vecna didn't entirely create it. He took the energy and life forms already in the Upside Down and made it into the form of a spider because of his obsession with spiders. And then he used the Mind Flayer as a tool to infiltrate our world. (4) I'm assuming that what El did to save Max was use her powers to get her heart beating again. I mean if she can snap someone's neck then I'm sure she could get a heart to beat again. Who needs CPR when you got El. I love that El saved Max. I think it's so powerful and it also makes so much sense to me that once El starts going to school and learning about human anatomy and stuff that she would learn more way to utilize her powers to save people :)
