So, it's been about 6 months since Kris left and holy hell have things changed.
Jean ended up turning Raintree into a dude ranch. And it seems like she's pretty happy living like this. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that they are making much more money like this than they were before. However, Matt is itching to get back into training and racing, and it just doesn't seem like Jean is interested.
Dani is out at Davis Farm since giving up her racing license to save the farm. In the meantime, she's been trying to open an equine clinic in the hopes that she can cozy up to some members of the racing board and get her license back. Things seem to be going well for her, but she's still a little cold to both her dad and Junior.
Wildfire is not doing well. He hasn't raced since Kris took him out for a joy ride to win two million dollars. It seems that Kris' lack of presence in his life is taking a toll. And, if he doesn't do well in the next race, they are planning to retire him.
Kris, meanwhile, is living in Colorado out of a motel. She's basically just doing some illegal horse racing and feeling guilty. That's pretty much her whole life right now. Matt (who has been trying for months) finally tracks her down and begs her to come home. Kris refuses. She's claims she's tired of messing up everyone's life and things are fine as is. As he's living, Matt tells her that they are going to have to retire Wildfire since he's not living up to his potential. That, of course, gets Kris' attention, and of course it's the catalyst for her heading back to Raintree.
Junior has decided to propose to this girl that he's been seeing for all of six months. But, he's not entirely sure. His dad is all gung ho for it (you know, because her dad is a congressmen), but something feels off to Junior. He calls Matt (apparently, all it took for Matt and Junior to become friends again was Kris leaving), and Matt asks him if there is any doubt he wants to marry her. Junior decides there isn't and is excited again.
However, right before he's about to propose, he heads out to the barn to practice. But he hears some commotion, and finds Kris there with Wildfire. Ladies and gentlemen, I think we found our doubt.
I have no idea if Kris is planning to stay (I mean, I'm sure she will, but I don't know if she's plans to per se) or just hang around long enough to convince them not to retire Wildfire. (And we already know he's sterile so we can't really earn any money off of him in retirement, what happens to a retired horse that can't stud? I guess he just, like, becomes a pet π€·ββοΈ).
My feeling is that Junior is not going to propose because of Kris (or he will, but they won't actually get married), but Dani will end up trying to get close to her and that will cause tension.
I'm so sad that we're already on the last season.
