So, I totally lied last episode. This plot line is actually really good. Lol. Also, can someone tell me if Nina Dobrev is actually Bulgarian? Or was this language dubbed? The pronunciation seemed way too good for an actress who doesn't actually speak the language.
Anyway, we get even more backstory on Katherine. Back in 1490, she was taken with Klaus. The oldest vampire in the world. He was in need of a human doppelgänger (which Katherine was) in order to break the vampire curse. Apparently, you need a blood sacrifice of one. And Katherine was it. However, she was not gonna stand for that and tricked Rose and Trevor into making her into a vampire. And a vampire doppelgänger is no use to Klaus. However, he was pissed that Katherine screwed up his plans, and has basically been hunting her every since.
And now, he knows about the existence of Elena, another human doppelgänger, and plans to use her to break the curse. Which means, Elena is in constant danger.
After a chat with Katherine, Elena finds out that they need other things to break the curse. A witch, a vampire, a werewolf, and the moonstone. And Katherine has the stone in the tomb. Stefan immediately assumes that she's going to try to exchange the stone for her freedom, but she's all like, 'Hell, no. This is the only safe place from Klaus. I'll stay here, thank you very much.'
Meanwhile, Damon and Rose are on the hunt to try to find Klaus, so they can kill him, before he kills Elena. They head to some vampire safe restaurant (they windows block all the UV) and talk about how they might find Klaus. Elijah, who is back from the dead, breaks the windows and all the vampires start burning. Damon manages to get Rose out, and her friend that they were meeting with, escapes also. Later, he calls Rose and asks if she can get the moonstone and a witch. She says she can. But, turns out, he's being compelled by Elijah, so Elijah now knows they have the stone. He then kills the kid for good message.
And, while all this is going on, there's a new set of witches in town. And we know that Klaus needs a witch for the spell and it looks like he's got one. We know dad is on the wrong side here, but I have no idea if the son, who Bonnie seems quite taken with, is someone we need to be worried about yet.
