The Vampire Diaries 2X8: Rose

It's been a bit since I watched this, and I'm still not sure whether I liked it or not. Parts of it, absolutely. Others, not so much.

So, Elena is kidnapped by some vampires we don't know to be used as a bargaining chip to get these vampire out of a debt. Okay. This is the part I wasn't really into. These two vampires crossed some really old vampires 500 years ago, and in order to get forgiveness (so they can stop running) they are giving them Katherine's doppelganger. Again I say, okay.

Bonnie does a spell to try to figure out where Elena is and she manages to find her. Stefan and Damon head out to save her. Bonnie also tries to send her a message, which is successful, and tells her that the boys are on their way.

After the old vampire kills one half of the couple, he tells Elena that he needs her as a blood sacrifice to break the werewolf curse. She tells him she knows where the moonstone is and will take him there. Then, he yanks off her vervain necklace and just compels her into telling him where it is.

At this point, Damon and Stefan show up. They save Elena and Damon stakes the super old vampire with a super giant stake. Theoretically, killing him. As this happens, Elena runs down the stairs all starry eyed and Damon thinks she looking at him (and he's thrilled), only to realize at the last second, Stefan is there and she's running to him. Ugh. It kind of hurt.

But apparently, old dude isn't dead. And their problems are not over. The girl vampire that was keeping Elena shows up at Damon's house and is all, you know this isn't over. The Originals will keep coming after her. Again, not sure into this storyline.

Afterwards, Damon goes to Elena to give her back her necklace. But before he puts it on her, he tells her he loves her. And that because he does, he's going to let her be with Stefan because he's the better brother. Then he compels her to forget what he said. Dude. I want them together. I have zero problems with Elena and Stefan. I actually quite like them together. But her chemistry with Damon is palpable. I'm so looking forward to reading fanfic with the two of them.

Meanwhile, Caroline is trying to help Tyler through his transition to werewolf. At first, she mostly tries to dodge his questions, but when it becomes impossible, she reveals that she is a vampire. But forbids him from telling anyone. I'm super concerned for her. As much as I was meh about Caroline in S1, I love her now. I don't want her to die!
