9-1-1 5X14: Dumb Luck
Added 2024-09-30 23:01:12 +0000 UTCOkay, so I actually really liked the 'theme' of this episode. I also really like how it tied into Eddie's current issues.
So, basically, Lucy caught a lady who fell off the top of a building, It's driving her crazy because people the news wants to interview her about it, but she doesn't feel like she actually did anything to save her. However, later, we find out that she's a trauma surgeon, so by saving her, countless other people end up getting saved in the process.
Eddie is still struggling. He's having terrible dreams and just generally not sleeping well. But, as miserable as he is now, he's sticking with the the therapy. Buck and Bobby are taking turns looking after Christopher, which I love from the bottom of my heart. He's feeling kind of like maybe nothing he did really made a difference. However, Buck ends up taking Christopher to equine therapy, and he shows Eddie that the boy he saved when he got shot, is there and he's thriving thanks to Eddie intervening.
Meanwhile, Athena is more shaken than we've seen her in a while. This stuff doesn't usually get to her, but she's stuck thinking about Harry and how he could turn out like those two boys did. Young people are stupid and think they're invincible. And, for a stupid prank, one of them almost ends up dead. And, for whatever reason, this hits Athena super hard. I feel bad for her in this episode.
Also, we've got Maddie and Chim dealing with some baby issues. Maddie brings Jee-Yun to the doctor and they immediately tell her that there's a problem. She and Chim wait around while they swap stories about what made them feel like bad parents. When the doctor finally comes out with a diagnosis, the two of them immediately clasp hands. This might be the best break up in all of history. Once they find out all is well, and thanks to Maddie's quick thinking, Jee is fine, they release hands. These two are totally getting back together, aren't they?
