Okay. So, Caroline is officially a vampire. How did she figure that out? I'm pretty sure (but correct me if I'm wrong) that she didn't know vampires existed before this. It must be so confusing and disorienting to wake up like this and not have anybody around to tell you what's going on. I mean, eventually, Stefan tells her he'll help, but she was totally alone when she woke up in the hospital.
Anyway, Stefan catches Jeremy up to speed about vampires, and gives him some vervain. Damon is now going to be in charge of running the anti-vampire group. (These guys really suck at their jobs, don't they?) But, while in the mayor's house to discuss this, he overhears Tyler and Mason talking about how to deal with their anger issues and is intrigued.
Poor Carolina is alone and the hospital. She's stealing blood bags, and drinking from her nurse. Although, she figures out how to compel her pretty quickly. But still, scary times for her. She manages to get herself discharged at night, since she also figured out pretty quickly that the sun burns her. She runs into Damon pretty much right away and tells him she knows what he did to her all those times. He realizes she's a vampire and runs off to tell Elena.
During a meeting about it, Damon claims they have to kill her, Elena refuses, and Stefan mostly keeps quiet about it. But they all head out to try to find her. Damon gets to her first. She's crying and guilty that she just killed and ate a guy. Damon attempts to kill her, but Stefan and Elena show up and stop him just in time. He doesn't kill her, but warns Elena that whatever she does going forward is on her conscious, not his. Bonnie shows up and realizes that Caroline is a vampire and loses it. Stefan takes Caroline inside and promises to help her control this.
Meanwhile, Bonnie is outside blaming Damon for this. Sure, it was his blood, but Bonnie asked him to do it. I mean, really it's Katherine's fault, but if it's down to the two of them, it's 100% on Bonnie. Damon has done a million fucked up things, but this one is not on him. Elena tries to explain that to Bonnie, but she's not hearing it. Instead, she gives him one of her killer headaches, and lights him on fire. Elena manages to get her to stop before Damon dies, but Bonnie is pissed she didn't kill him.
And Jeremy planned to kill Damon by putting vervain in his booze. However, he tells him not to drink it. They sort of bond over the fact that both of their fathers hated vampires, simply because they were taught to. Jeremy doesn't seem to want to be that way, and leaves.
In other news, the Salvatores are busy trying to figure out what Tyler and Mason are. I mean, it has to be werewolves, right? However, they don't seem to think werewolves exist. But Mason certainly looked like a werewolf when he was fighting. I guess it could be something else, but my money is still on werewolf. But werewolves that don't turn on a full moon. I feel like we saw Tyler out during a full moon in season one. (Which is what made me originally think werewolf).
