Friday Night Lights 5X2: On the Outside Looking In

I don't think this was my favorite episode. Could be the lack of football. Could be the drama about rally girls. Could be something else.

Anyway, the team is excited and chattering about what their rank might be now that they've beaten an actual good team last episode. However, when the rankings come out, the Lions are not on the list. Eric pretends to not care about this, but secretly he's upset.

To add insult to injury, that awesome hit by Luke in the game is now being called illegal and Luke is being suspended for a game. Eric tries to stick up for him, but it seems like he's a bit of an outsider now and they pay him no mind.

During the rally girl selection, an excited girl gets Vince and is disappointed when Vince tells her Jess is gonna be his rally girl. However, Jess doesn't do rally girl things and Vince is now disappointed when his locker is empty of treats. After discussing it with Jess, she tells him it's fine to get another rally girl, but it's obvious she doesn't mean it. Vince goes back to the original rally girl and Jess is jealous (I mean she has a right be be, this chick is literally trying to steal Vince and leaving her underwear in his locker). They end up fighting in the bathroom. And again later at a party where they try to outdrink one another. She eventually confesses to Vince and he takes. her home. However, the girl is also visibly drunk and Jess tries, in her drunken state, to get someone to take her home as well.

Tami is trying to get through to the student. Specifically Epyck. She's following her around, not letting her smoke, making sure she goes to class. Eventually, Epyck seems to relent and shows up at Tami's office for a meeting.

Meanwhile, Julie is in college, but doesn't seem to be fitting in. She ends up at party and spends some time watching a football game with her TA. They make a coffee date for the next day. This is probably not a great idea.

And Vince, for his part, has received several letters of intent from colleges. I'm so happy for him! I really hope that he doesn't end up doing something that's gonna derail him over the course of the seaon.
