Wildfire 1X6: The Claiming Race

This episode had way too much relationship drama in it. I get it's a drama, but I'm here more for the coziness, the comfort and the Kris and her horse stuff. Lol.

That said, Pablo tells Jean that if the ranch loses Wildfire, he's gone too. Also, Matt tells Kris that someone called Cabelo Ranch (I think that was the name) put in a claim on Wildfire. As much as they internet search, they can't find anything about it. Kris is desperate for Wildfire to go to a good home, so she basically agrees to trade sex for Junior to put in a claim on Wildfire.

They go on a date and afterwards, he brings her back to his place. He kisses her, but she's so not into it and barely kisses back. He asks her about it, and she's all, a deal's a deal and I'm here. He continues to kiss her. Then we cut to morning where we assume they had sex, only to find out they didn't because he knew she didn't want to. He still put the claim in on the horse. So credit where credit's due, I guess.

Also, Bobby the Bookie is married. Dani finds out and is not thrilled. However, Amber knew first and was disgusted that Dani was with a married guy, only to find out that Dani didn't know, so now they're in a fight. Whatever. Amber needs better friends.

Charlie has started to pay for 'little' things around the farm without Jean's knowledge. However, after she sleeps with him, he happens to mention it. She freaks out because she thinks other people will think she's sleeping with him in return for his money. I really do get both sides of this. He has lots of money. She has a little. It takes very little effort for him to help, and she needs it. However, from her point of view, it's definitely weird.

They get a new(ish) jockey for Wildfire in the claiming race. Kris is a little salty about it. Especially, when Wildfire doesn't get as good times as he does with her. Eventually, she and the jockey share info and work together.

At the claiming race, Wildfire wins! By a lot. Apparently, he set a record at the track. Afterwards, Junior and Cabelo Farms have an equal chance to claim Wildfire, and Cabelo Farms wins. Turns out, it's Pablo, who used all his savings to get Wildfire. He wasn't ready to let her go. He and Jean strike a deal where they both own half of Wildfire and both are staying at the farm. Thank god.

I feel like the B plots aren’t that great in the first season but they improve and there’s always the wildfire/kris stuff.
