Outlander 5X6: The Ballad of Roger Mac
Added 2024-08-14 20:34:17 +0000 UTCUgh. We were so close to getting out of this with Murtagh being alive! He saves Jamie and then almost immediately is shot by one of Jamie's soldiers. Had Jamie just known that kid was there, Murtagh could have gotten away.
But a crazed Jamie forces whoever is around to help him drag Murtagh back to Claire's medical tent, even though it's obvious there is nothing she can do for him. When she confirms as much, he tells of Tryon and claims he's done and that he's repaid his debt.
Before any of this happens though, Roger heads over to tell Murtagh that Brianna remembered the battle and that the Regulators lose. He begs Murtagh to get his troops to surrender so they don't end up dead. But they decide they are going to fight.
On the way back, Roger runs into the woman he saved on the ship. Her husband misunderstands what's going on and threatens Roger for attempting to steal his wife. He and some of his friends beat Roger up.
Later, after the battle, no one has seen Roger and we all head out to look for him. When they across some men hanged on a tree, everyone is concerned one of them is Roger. And I just figured out why now. I was confused during as to why they thought it might be Roger just because he had a white flag in his pocket. Since they said they were hanging Regulators, and Roger wasn't a Regulator, I assumed he'd be safe. But I just realized now, he still hadn't made it back after talking to Murtagh, so they likely think he is a Regulator. Eek!
I mean, you know I'm fine if Roger dies. But that will make Brianna upset, which will upset Claire and Jamie, which we know I do not want.
