One Tree Hill 5X18: What Comes After the Blues

I cannot believe that Luke only got suspended for 10 games. He should have gotten fired, and ordered not to work with kids anymore. I mean, I don't want that, but you can't have adults who are in charge of your kids, assaulting them. No matter how shitty they feel if their ex-fiancé is dating someone else.

Oh, Brooke was so happy. She still had eight more days left with Angie, and then they just pulled the rug right out from under her. That sucks. I'm sure she knew getting so attached was a bad idea, but she gave that baby exactly what it needed.

I'm not really sure if I buy that Luke is currently torn between Brooke, Peyton, and Lindsay. Peyton and Lindsey, sure, but not Brooke. But that might be because I currently love the relationship he has with Brooke and I don't want it jeopardizes or altered in any way. But Haley is fairly perceptive, so if she thinks Brooke's in the mix, I'll give it to her.

And apparently, speaking of Lindsey, she shows up to tell Luke that the book is finished. And also to say good bye. Luke asks if she missed him, but she doesn't answer and just leaves. However, not long after we hear her on the phone and the person asks if she told Luke, and she says, no. She's not pregnant, is she? I so do want that to come up in S6.

Dan is being all creepy and weird hanging around the guy who is first on the heart transplant list. He's bringing him flowers everyday (even though the guy is unconscious), but it's like he can't decide if he wants to murder him or not. It's like Dan feels like he should be a good person, but he doesn't really know how to be. It's super odd, but also kind of compelling.

But then, as he's leaving the hospital (after stopping to help an elderly man with his cane, mind you), he gets hit by a car and is left unconscious (I think) and bleeding in the middle of the road. Of course this is the time his heart beeper goes off. Ugh. It sucks that he's right in front of the hospital, so I'm sure they are gonna find him and take care of him quickly. Everything always works out for Dan, doesn't it?

And then we get Luke at the airport. He's called someone to ask if they want to fly to Vegas and get married tonight. My bet is, in this order, Peyton, Lindsey, then Brooke. I am going to be very displeased if it's Brooke. I like Brooke, but I don't think she and Lucas have this kind of relationship anymore. And with the weird Lindsey phone call, it seems like it's gonna be Peyton, and then later we'll find out Lindsey is pregnant and that's what she hasn't told Luke. I mean, this show is a drama after all.

I hope you enjoyed this finale Dana, even though it was a shortened season because of the writer's strike going on at the time, S5 was a strong season that introduced the time jump, and rest assured that it was written as a proper finale if you will. The show got the first 12 episodes written and filmed before the strike went into place in mid-December of that year. They were racing against the clock to finish up 5x12 right before the strike started, and they just made it, hehe. If the strike had gone on indefinitely that year, then the 100th episode would have been how the season ended. But the strike ended up only lasting for 3 months and when the show got the go ahead to return to filming in March, they got greenlit for an additional 6 episodes, and that's how we got 5x13-5x18. So those additional episodes were written with the end of the season in mind with all eyes on a S6 pick-up, which they got while they were finishing up filming S5. So just wanted to help clear up any confusion about how S5 played out, and whether or not they had time to plan 5x18, and they most certainly did. Everything was all mapped out accordingly. And glad that you mentioned how heartwarming the NHJ pool scene was, because it most certainly was. In fact, The Naley family was the best part of the episode. As you said...there was a lot going on this episode, but not many heartwarming scenes, except for theirs. Especially since it plays in contrast from just how fractured their family was at the start of the season, and to see their beautiful family so healthy and happy now...is most definitely touching. Naley are fantastic parents, and Jamie is the apple of their eye. I'm kinda surprised that you didn't go with the NHJ thumbnail, but I know how much you love a good Dan one, lol, and you did say that it would be close, hehe, but the NHJ pool scene is iconic for sure. And I hope you loved Nathan's determination for his comeback, with a little help from Jamie as he helped him see through his fears, the same way that Nathan helped Jamie overcome his fears of the pool, with Haley by both of their sides. Gosh....they are such a perfect family. And yes.... Haley was able to finish her song with Nathan's inspiration, and I so love that we got to hear Joy's song "Feel This", and they included those lyrics for Haley. She told Nathan that he still makes her heart race....as she grabbed his hand to put over her chest and said feel this. And the chorus for the song goes...."Feel this, can you feel this, my heart beating out of my chest." It's so perfect for them, I can't even say. Haley's music has always been tied to Nathan, the same way that Nathan's love of basketball and playing is tied to his family. Getting to see them both now be in a place to pursue their dreams together, is always heart melting for sure. And you're right about Lucas...had this been more realistic, then he would have for sure been charged with assault on a minor and terminated on the spot. In no way.... can you put your hands on another player, especially one on the opposing team, and get away with it. Just a 10-game suspension wasn't realistic at all. And that brings us back to Lucas and his journey and plight this season. It's looney toons to try and pretend that he's somehow torn between all three girls now and that they are somehow interchangeable, and that he's so desperate to be married, that he'll take whoever says yes at this point. It's ridiculous, and not at all what they spent S5 telling, so the cliffhanger isn't believable for a variety of reasons. The show went out of their way to portray Lucas moving on from Peyton and falling in love with Lindsey, so much so that he proposed to her and wanted to get married quickly. He stood up and said "I Do" to Lindsey, and had it not been for her walking out of the ceremony.... then they would already be married by now. He was so devastated and crushed, that he spent the remainder of the season determined to get Lindsey back and convince her to come home to him, and when he thought she was seeing someone else and had moved on...he went on a mult-day binder, and told Peyton he hated her and that she ruined his life, because in his drunken stupor....everything with Lindsey went wrong when Peyton moved back to Tree Hill. So to now try and pretend that Lucas never made a decision and that he doesn't know what he wants...is asinine, lol. It's just really lazy and sloppy writing for his character and goes against everything that we just watched for the entirety of S5. But on a positive note....NHJ's journey this season was absolutely amazing, and I think you love watching Naley be parents, and just think how skeptical you were during Haley's pregnancy, lol. And love or hate Dan... he's such an integral part of these characters lives, and now we'll see what becomes of him as he's lying in the road having just been run down with his heart beeper going off. Only in Tree Hill, lol. So, I hope you enjoyed S5....and I look forward to your thoughts on S6, hehe!!!
