Stranger Things 2X7: Chapter Seven: The Lost Sister

So, El goes to Chicago to find the girl in the Rainbow Room. She's hanging with a gang of misfits intent on killing everyone who was involved in the lab. They use El to find the guy who did shock therapy on Terry. At his house, Kali tells El to kill him and El is doing it, when she realizes he's got kids and stops. Kali goes to shoot him, but El makes the gun fly out the window.

It's soon discovered the the kids (who are in the house) called 9-1-1 and the police are on the way. The gang escapes by using Kali's powers (she can make people see things that aren't there- or make them see nothing).

While this is happening though, El's getting visions of Hopper and Mike in trouble and she wants to go back to help her friends. The gang escapes from the police, as El runs in the opposite direction to catch a bus home.

I can only imagine we'll be seeing Kali again. She is way too good of a character to be a one off like this. Plus, I can only imagine she'll be helpful at some point (although, I don't really know what the end game is right now. Lol.)

Also, I'm not really sure if Kali was trying to help/train El, or just manipulate her into helping their cause. I feel like a really good case could be made for both options, so I'm not really sure where I stand on her right now.

This is a controversial episode. It's the lowest rated one on IMDB but I truly love it. It was an important episode for Eleven. This is truly no spoiler but I believe that Kali is an important character as well. I mean anyone in this show with powers is potentially integral. If for no other reason it's good to see other characters from the lab because it fills out the world and adds to the lore. Some felt this episode should have been integrated into other episodes but I feel like it has such a different mood and vibe that it deserved its own episode. This season also had an extra episode so I never felt like we missed out on other potential plotlines in exchange for it. It's an emotional episode. Millie is a great actress and I love that we got a showcase for that. And it was directed by Rebecca Thomas and I love whenever a TV episode is directed by a woman. As to your questions at the end... El was able to see Hopper because she was holding his shirt. With Mike I believe it was because she has a special connection with him and has been visiting him in "the void", as it's called, all season so they kinda have a connection and also in earlier episode Mike was sensing her in the void which is not normal which further shows their connection. I believe that if El is looking for someone she can typically see within one room so because the little girls were in the other room she couldn't see them. El was tuned in to that dude so she could only see what was in his general perifory.
