One Tree Hill 4X13: Pictures of You

This has been my favorite episode of One Tree Hill so far. I thought it only fitting that I give it to you a little early.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have no idea if this is controversial or not, but this was my favorite episode so far. A lot of that has to do with who I am and what I find interesting, but I LOVED this episode. So much that, I don't even know what to say about it.

The black screen freaked me out and I originally thought either we were getting the episode where Haley loses the baby or Deb overdoses. But, what we got was so much better.

In this episode I mention the book Jocks & Burnouts: Social Categories and Identity in the High School by Penelope Eckert. If you happen to love this episode as much as I do, you might enjoy it. And, if you enjoy that, check out White Kids: Language, Race, and Styles of Youth Identity by Mary Bucholtz. (Remember when I might have mentioned I got a BA and MA in Communication? This is the stuff that I was fascinated by).

I could not resist looking it up. This teacher is the janitor from The Breakfast Club. I feel vindicated!

Is there any chance we swap Rachel for Glenda? Please! I'd be so grateful!

Honestly, I just think was so well done. I loved (and believed) everything about it. (Come at me, I'm sure there is a ton of criticism I skipped over because this was in my style. ๐Ÿ˜ณ)

Mouth. His secret killed me. The fact that he can't admit that he misses his friend? I really need this Dan shit to come to a head soon so instances like this can be rectified. Can you imagine how much easier if will be for Mouth to heal when he finds out that Jimmy didn't shoot Keith?

Kind of off topic, but we totally saw Haley wearing a fake bump this episode, right? When she was laying down on that table talking to Skills?

I don't wanna say anymore. But I really want it known that I love this episode. I don't think I will ever watch one (here or in any other show) that is more 'Dana' than this one.

Yeah...go back and watch that scene in the classroom. If you love all the other fabulous JL's unscripted moments...then you'll love this one too, hehe. And I so agree.... James and Joy bring an effortless electric chemistry and grace to each and every one of their scenes together, that it does feel so real, genuine, raw, and organic because of the undeniable connection that they have with each other. You can't manufacture that kind of connection and chemistry.... that's why they were always referred to as lightning in a bottle!!! It's as real and organic as you can get, because it is that genuine!!!

Melissa

Oh my gosh I've never noticed that. I'm gonna have to remember to keep an eye out next time ๐Ÿ’œ James and Joy's chemistry is so electric. Certainly in the big moments but it's also these little moments that make Naley feel so real, genuine, and electric

Wanted to mention one quick thing about Nathan wearing the hat in class...that's funny that you said you didn't think we had ever seen Nathan wear a hat before because it's such a James thing...as he's a huge fan of wearing baseball hats. Was back then, and still is today, and you may or may not see Nathan in more hats as time goes on, hehe. But for this specific scene...yes Nathan needed the hat so they could use it to pass out the names, but if you pay attention to when everyone's passing the hat around and it gets back to Haley...she takes Nathan's hat and puts it on her head to wear, hehe. It was such a Joy thing to do in service of Haley, and then when the class all stands up to exit the room, you see Joy throw it back at James and him laugh as he catches it, and gosh it's just such a JL's thing to do, and another unscripted moment by them and I just love that scene so much because all I see is James and Joy and their magic together playing Naley!!!

Melissa

I cannot tell you how happy I am that everyone seems to like this episode. Before you know the consensus, it's scary liking a thing all on your own!

Dana Licciardello

Yep, love this episode! Deep, vulnerable conversations ๐Ÿ˜Š

Ali M

OMG. She was! I totally forgot about that will all the stupid Chris bullshit!

Dana Licciardello

She was prom queen in season 2.

Sabrina

It feels very vulnerable to claim you love something when you don't know the general consensus. It's like I stuck in there ' this might be controversial' so in case everyone else hated this episode, I could be like 'see, I knew it!' Both Brooke and Nathan have grown into my favorite characters, but neither of them started there. A 100%. Brooke talking about her fears could be anyone, which I feel, makes it totally relatable.

Dana Licciardello

I love this episode. One of the best of the whole show. It is a fan favourite! I love so many of the characters in this show but Brooke and Nathan have always been my favourites and I loved everything that Brooke opened up about in this episode! Itโ€™s always hit close to home when she talks about not being enough. Also the picture of Nathan is iconic!!

Shayna Puerto

Ooh, I didn't even realize that! She might have been a loner or a geek in the first 2 seasons, but not now. She's never been 'friendly' or a jock (unless you count cheerleading- which I might at other times but not OTH cheerleading). She might be a prom queen now, but never prior to now. She's so complicated. I love her!

Dana Licciardello

I love this episode. Definitely one of my favs from season 4. I think it's interesting that Haley never received a label because I always thought it was hard to put Haley in a box and this episode kind of validated that.

Sabrina

OMG. That makes me super excited for the S4 finale and the S5 premiere. That said, I love a good tradition! I love all stuff where we get put into categories or classifications and have to try to break out of them!

Dana Licciardello

Yes! Among other things, I didn't realize that Haley and Skills had known each other so long!

Dana Licciardello

Like I said in my previous comment, I havenโ€™t watched your reactions to season 4 yet because I like to wait until reactors finish the season and then at least watch the first episode of season 5 before I binge watch (itโ€™s just a bit of a tradition at this point ๐Ÿ˜‚) but this is definitely one of my favourite episodes! I adore episodes were we get to check in on the characters and their feelings and learn more about them, past the stuff that is happening in their life in a drama show like this. Any episode were the characters are in a forced proximity situation and are forced to confront their feelings is just *chiefs kiss*

Jenny V

perfect episode:)) i love how we got to spend time with different pairings, especially some we donโ€™t see interact that often!

heather

I loved it so much! Nice to see we're all on the same page here!

Dana Licciardello

Oh I'm glad that this was not a controversial opinion! I'm so glad we all like it!

Dana Licciardello

Yep, this is a fan favorite episode! Thx for releasing it early!!

Heather

I knew you would love this episode it is definitely a fan favorite episode. Personally it is one of my Top 3 favorite episodes from the entire series.
