I'm hoping that in the next episode, we get some more of Dexter and Emma together. He really needs her, and she's more fun to watch than anyone else when she's interacting with him.
That review seemed to be totally off base as well since he had a ton of adoring fans waiting for him and cheering for him. so obviously, he's not nearly as bad as the writer claimed.

I mean, I have nothing against plot. Good plots are great. However, if given the option of a plot-driven story or a character-driven story, the character will win 100% of the time. Oh, that makes me so sad. I was really hoping he would be able to make things right.

2024-03-15 12:32:47 +0000 UTCI love that you prefer character based stories over plot heavy ones because that’s how I’ve always been too. I know some people find it boring but I’ve always been drawn to stories focused on character more than anything. And I fully agree, we definitely need both of their lives for this show to work. Emma’s is more normal every day and Dex’s is more chaotic/dramatic but it balances the story out. I think Emma’s “your mom would have been really proud of you” was more to make him feel better than anything. While it’s not clear in the show, in the book Dex didn’t have the chance to make things right with his mom. There’s a tidbit about him not knowing the moments from episode 5 would be the last time he’d see her alive but it kinda explains why he’s gotten worse. He turned to drugs and alcohol to deal with his mom being sick and now she’s dead and it’s become his go to for everything.
