One Tree Hill 1X14: I Shall Believe

Oh no. Karen reacted the way I feared. She's totally gonna forgive Keith though, right? He's done one shitty thing. Dan's done a hundred thousand shitty things and Karen is grateful to him.

Also, holy shit. I cried so much. I had no idea I was going to get so emotional.

yes yes yes!! it felt very purposeful for it to be nathan and not any other character. and the gentleness of the touch between them and the soft way he said let me go get your mom and gently woke karen up. like if you were an outsider looking in, seeing lucas wake up and touch nathan's hand, see nathan speak softly to him and help him get a drink of water, seeing nathan gently wake up karen, you would think "hmm i'll bet that's his brother" and that's the first ever moment we've had of this show where one might draw that conclusion. to me that whole scene symbolized healing. healing with a long road ahead. it was definitely an interesting and well done choice!

To add on to what Emily said, Haley wasn't making it about her when she pointed out to Peyton that Nathan wasn't at the Rivercourt. It was about Nathan not supporting Lucas. All of the team, including Tim was there. Nathan should have been. Nathan going the hospital was huge. Even if he couldn't do it for Lucas alone he still did it for Haley. Haley is meant to bring these two brothers together. I love that Lucas woke up to Nathan. This indicated to me that Nathan and Lucas would eventually have a good relationship. Usually tv shows save those key moments for key relationships. It could have been Peyton, Brooke or his mom, but it was Nathan! I know at this point you were still on the fence regarding Nathan's intentions, but he has proven by his actions he is not manipulating Haley.

this show does characters so beautifully. it's moments like brooke rattling on and you can just feel her anxiety and wanting to be liked by lucas's mom so desperately. nathan going to lucas and setting aside his ego to be there because he knew haley couldn't. karen going and just saying a simple thank you and hugging dan and then leaving was also done so well. it was everything that needed to be said, her gratitude for him saving her son. and all the stuff with peyton supporting and trying to help haley, even going to nathan herself. it was just so well done and you just feel for each of these characters (except maybe dan lol he still sucks) to me i think this episode showed the biggest growth for nathan. we see him saying things to haley all the time. this episode we saw action. he doesn't like lucas. lucas doesn't like him. there may even be some flat out hatred there, but he knows that's someone important to the person that's important to him, so he sat aside his own ego and went to be there because he knew haley couldn't. in that moment, i truly saw him as a partner to haley. i think the terms boyfriend girlfriend can be so sometimes meaningless almost in high school. maybe meaningless isn't the right word, but frivilous? idk, i'm not describing it right.. anyway, in this moment i saw him as being more than just a boyfriend by the high school standard, and more of her partner stepping in and being there during a very difficult moment. it was just lovely to see that from nathan. and i LOVE that lucas woke up and touched his hand. it's a moment in the show that always gets me emotional. this whole episode really! i was crying right along with you!!
