Seramoth Xenofauna

Seramoth lies under the same “Xenomoth” Genus as the Dorbsmoth (Xenomoth Amicus). Contrasting with the Dorbsmoth, Seramoth are smaller, white-furred, and lack whiskers. They also have some feathers and a different wing location. It has four life stages—egg, larvae, cocoon, and adult. Unlike other oviparous creatures, Seramoth appear to be conscious in their egg and cocoon stages. Because of this it is advised to be careful distinguishing between them and other xeno eggs.

Directly after hatching (due to danger or naturally), Seramoth hungers for fibers and xeno products such as fur, silk, wool, and feathers. It appears that even printed clothes are a food source for the seramoth as discovered when a recently hatched larvae partially devoured an explorer’s garments. This endless consumption only takes place during its larvae stage as it needs a lot of keratin in order to have the energy to evolve into the adult form.

A Seramoth parent does not care for its young—rather the adults seem to purposefully travel far away to prevent any damage or injury as a result of the larvae’s diet. Based on some of Earth’s moths with similar eating habits, hypothesized alternatives to its diet may include grains, dried pasta, rice, bread, seeds, or cake mixes. Adult Seramoths have not been witnessed eating. We suspect this could be a similar situation to Earth’s moths where the nutrients from its larvae stage are enough for it to last for a long period of time. Whether or not it eventually eats or if it instead perishes is unknown.
