Texture project updates + website launched

It's been two and a half years since I committed to retexturing MM3D.  I have never, not once, ever met a deadline (and never will, cowards) but the 3D port has been backlogged too long even for me, so I paused the video stuff for the past week to do the first major round of work on the 3D port.

Most of the UI has been recreated and more environmental textures have also been transferred over.  Unlike the 64 pack, being faithful is not a priority this time since I don't like much of MM3D's interface- in this case, the right angles of the clock clashed with the ornamental shapes so I tried to work them out of the design:

Replacing these textures can be difficult because of the way the objects are split up for more efficient storage.  The clock is made up of four segments, all of which need to be positioned exactly like the originals with no room for even a single pixel of error:

While it's time consuming to arrange all of this, the upside is that replacing a single texture results in a huge portion of the UI being done in one fell swoop.  You can see more comparisons at these links -some assets, like the fonts, are still unfinished and it may take time to fully blend the more realistic 64 style in fully:

My goal is to finish clock town for the first MM3DHD comparison video before the end of summer; if I don't have the textures ready by then, you can steal exactly one of my NFTs legally.

I also look forward to showing the process of creating these textures in another tutorial video, hopefully also by the end of summer.  If not, steal two

The 64 pack is coming to PC (again)

In the process of porting things over to Citra I've also been improving the 64 textures when needed.  More textures have gotten hand-drawn replacements and the UI has also been tweaked:

You can see the full comparison (along with the SD version) here:

Some of these changes are to prepare for the native PC port, which will allow better ways of controlling the size of the HUD than the smaller texture sizes I used, so everything was restored to full size.  Obviously a native PC port is still a long way off but I just wanted to confirm that I will be bringing the pack over to it as soon as the tools are ready.

Sometime before that, I'll release a 2.0 version of the pack with more replacements and corrections to make everything work with GlideN64's new accurate mapping (PC will need this as well).

Nerrel.com launched

If you didn't see the stupid thing I uploaded last week, the site finally went live.  The default tools offered by services like Squarespace and Bluehost were surprisingly limited and poor, so it's very basic for now, but when I get time the site will be rebuilt using a better builder I found.

The site will expand to include a music section with all of the piano+guitar covers and probably not- but also very likely- cat photos.  If there's anything else that you'd like to see on the website I'd love to hear it.  Cat photos!

With that, it's time to switch back to video work to share my awful, biased Metroid opinions.  Thanks again for your support

It should be about the same, only a few new textures are being added (some glitched textures have been restored thanks to the decomp)

Will pack 2.0 have more size than 1.0?

All the new textures look great! Also looking forward to legally stealing two of your NFTs.
