GIMP has served me perfectly well for creating video assets and most texture work, but if it has any glaring weakness it's that it's relatively poor at emulating physical media. Because I need to do just that for a few upcoming tasks, I downloaded trials for about half a dozen painting programs and settled on a few that impressed me. This clip shows the kind of realistic paint physics I'll be able to take advantage of now.
One of the specific needs I have for this is the creation of the storybook images from MM. Modders Gamemasterplc and Aroeni have already helped me inject 16:9 versions of these images into the ROM, so hopefully I'll be able to paint full widescreen versions that do justice to the originals (I'll also include AI upscales as an alternative). Thanks again for the support
