40 Min Release Trauma, Tension & Emotions Stuck in The Body I 5 Rounds | Guided Gratitude Meditation

This is a deep one, lying down is recommended. Really enjoy these tension relief sessions but they are not for everyone. If you have a very sensitive nervous system and react very strongly to these open mouth breathing sessions, you can try in/out through the nose or just skip this session. Always listening to the body.

This powerful 40 minute session uses active, conscious breathing In/out through the mouth to intentionally tap into the sympathetic nervous system, the part of us that holds on to unprocessed stress, trauma, and tension. "The body keep the score" - Bessel van der Kolk, M.D.

This journey is a chance to go inward and let go of what the body has been carrying.

Two beautiful books that talk about how the body keep the score and holds onto trauma are The body keeps the score and Gabor Mates When the body says no. Highly recommend reading these.

So many of us are unknowingly holding on to old emotional wounds, and it shows up in our lives as:
• Chronic tension in the jaw, neck, or gut
• Reactivity or emotional numbness
• Overthinking, anxiety, or feeling stuck
• Difficulty being present or relaxing
• Feeling like you’re constantly on edge or in “survival mode”

This session is an invitation to let the breath do the work. You don’t need to understand it all, you just need to feel it. Trust that your body knows how to release.

Sandy. These deep sessions are powerful and beautifully done. Thank you!🙏🏼💚

Patrick Firestone

The body holds on to everything. Stress, trauma etc and it can be released in the form of building up tension in parts of the body. Our body has a natural healing mechanism

Sandy

What is the song/s called that you play at the end of the breath work rounds?

Jade

My anxiety eventually got the better of me and opened my eyes but stayed in this almost trace like state for around 10 more minutes with my eyes open having what I can only describe as an out of body experience, at one point I asked myself out loud who am I. I tried to finish the journey but when I started breathing again I went right back into the passing out feeling and just wanted it to end. I’ve done hundreds of hours of Sandy’s breath work and this has never happened before. Was a very strange feeling that I don’t even know how to fully describe.

Brandon Scarbrough

Two minutes into 2x speed of round 3 I realized I was breathing way faster then sandy. I slowed down to what I thought was the same pace as him but when it came for the breath hold I realized I was hardly breathing at all and felt almost like I was floating and was about to pass out. I stayed here for a couple of minutes going deeper but never actually passing out.

Brandon Scarbrough

It's actually between 31:11 and 31:13.

Clinton Lee

Dear Sandy, thank you.

Tyler Corderman

Such an interesting encounter feeling how tense my body becomes during the initial breath holds. There was a part where you give some direction to explore what the source of that tension might be and I was so grateful to be guided there. I was able to look inwardly at so many pent up defense mechanisms that manifest themselves as negative emotional ties to the past as well as negative energy spilling into the present. And then in the midst of that I came to consider, wow...this is so much of what created negativity throughout the world, in countless lives and experiences that reverberate through time. Something about that realization lead me right into feeling the positive counterpoint to those emotions. It made the full spectrum of feelings more tangible and provided an opportunity to consciously head towards the light, as it were... Well, thank you Sandy, for this video and all of your work

Evan

In the last round when we shift to double speed there is a little double over loop of your voice Sandy. Not a big deal but in case you want to check it out.

Krista Klein

Thank you very blissful. After the session my feet were extremely warm. Alot of vibration coming from my feet. Tension in the middle of my right foot. Any idea to know what was bring released or going on?

Thank you so much. All my inner body was shaking and I felt a white light at the crown chakra at the end of the meditation. The "Shanty" song is beautiful.

Gera leclerc

Tears during the meditation part, when I realised, I am safe

Kaz

I have been doing your breathing sessions for more than a year. I always found those long, mouth breathing sessions exhausting, somehow i could not feel them, however i really wanted. I do not know what happened but with this one i felt sensations after a couple minutes, it was so obvious feeling doing it and after with the music i had beautiful visualisations when i closed my eyes. Thank you ❤️

Gréta Grabarics

That was profoundly healing. Thank u

Janet

Both tears and shaking. Getting that trauma out of me! Thank you Sandy.

my first time doing a long session like this with you. adter the second round i had to stop with your pace because my body was full of tension, especially in my arms and hands. i just knew this kind of feeling as a cramp but i was not a cramp at all so i was confused thats why i paused for one round. in the end it needed more than half an hour to move my hands, neck and arms without tension. very grounded feelin afterwards and i imagine if i would have done all of the rounds it would habe been even more intense but i gonna do it step to step. thank you though for showing me this kind of way which has nothing to do with any substance to take and just working with your body.!❤️

Valentin

Seem to find it more it more intense when I use the retentions rather than the holds . Also still getting phone interruptions, wether it be phone notications or things like.the internet cutting out braking my concentration right after I have done all the breather work and about to take off on the meditation . Still a beautiful session thankyou sandy .

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

You are doing nothing wrong my friend. These sensations can feel very uncomfortable and sometimes scary, but as you saw, if you stop or return to normal breathing they all go away. Meaning you are always in control. It could be an overactive and sensitive nervous system and it could also be a lot of built up tension and stress that you have been accumulating waiting to be released. Give it some time, and when you feel safe and ready you can try again and just observe any sensations with an open mind.

Sandy

It really comes down to your nervous system and how you are feeling. If you feel regulated during the day and grounded, you can do something like this 4-6 times a week. But I always advise still practicing some sort of down regulating exericse, even it is a 5 minute extended exhales routine. Much love !

Sandy

Hello ! Thank you , Sandy ! I have a question , how often is it ok to do it ? I do this one or 1 hour journey , but I don’t know if I cand do it daily, or once , two times a week … please advise me . Thank you !

Nico Soare

Thank you for the wonderful work you’re doing Sandy. In this session already in the first round I felt huge pression in my head so I slowed the breath. In the second one beside the head there was so much energy in my arms that I stopped and shake it off. Is it just my nervous system that is too sensitive or am I doing something wrong ? Thank you very much. Much love Sandy!

Bogdan

Thanks for the beautiful write up 🙏🏼

I had the toughest time of my life two years ago. I was living with my Dad and we were both struggling with life. We both lost ourselves, for a long time. I went on the deepest journey to find answers and find myself again through talking therapy, Joe Dispenza meditation, psychedelic therapy, the Wim Hof method, reading hundreds of books on personal development, and also your breathwork. Most important to me is being the best father I can be, and with the love and joy he has brought into my life he was the fuel to help me through the toughest times. I’m fortunate to say my son is the most beautiful human being I have ever encountered. After a lot of ups and downs I knew the day that I was healed when I had the best day of my life 2 weeks ago, I saw my Dad get married to the most beautiful women who I’m incredibly grateful for that he found, and then later that day I saw my son perform in his first ever hip hop dance show. I did a meditation that day with my heart in full bloom and tears of joy as everything I went through was all worth it to find this moment. From the bottom of my heart and the depths of my soul, thank you Sandy for what you’ve created. The beautiful coincidence is that my Dads name is Sandy ✨😉

Danny Gibson

Thank you Sandy. In the second round I had an experience of anger and frustration. There was intense tingling in my left foot and leg as well as around my kidney area. When this all settled my whole body felt light and I was travelling to the starry sky. Unbidden tears came in the meditation. A deep, deep sleep followed. ❤️. Your truth is a beautiful service. Gratitude.

Something profound occurred. Already after the first round of breath retention, the body began to tremble and a few tears gently flowed. From that moment, I was resting purely in consciousness—no longer aware of the body as ‘mine.’ It breathed, it held its breath, at times it shook deeply, releasing some kind of energy… yet all of this unfolded on the periphery of awareness. What remained was a sacred stillness, a deep resting in presence. I sense that something shifted within—but for now, its mystery remains hidden. Thank you, Sandy. 🔗❤️
