Greetings,
I'm back from my vacation. Well, as indicated by the headline, not all went as planed...
Short vacation summary
A day before my departure when I wanted to control my checklist for the vacation one last time my pc broke down and didn't came back on again.
On the first route section I had to find out that the induction charging in my car isn't enough to support navigation streaming from my phone to my car (android connect). Happened in the middle of a metropolis of course and I had to buy an charging adapter at the next gas station.
From day one it was basically raining all the time. I had only a few days with a few hours of clear sky. Which was a bit frustrating as I couldn't enjoy the beautiful landscapes as I would have liked to. The mountains and their pikes where often hidden in the clouds or barely visible through the rain. And hiking or cooking in rain wasn't really fun either.
On the second night I had to find out that my tent wasn't suited for windy areas so I had to break camp in the middle of the night. Happened more than once...
A few days down the line my phone broke down which I completely relied on. No more navigation, no more communication and over a 100 km to the next big city. Good thing I had old fashioned maps with me for this case. However, from the next big city I needed to head to another big city to get a mobile device and a sim card which I then could use for internet and navigation again.
A few days down the line I noticed my car got damaged. Don't know how, but it looks like someone kicked in the side of my car.
There are quite a few more issues I had down the line but I think I don't need to rant about everything here. By that time I was really frustrated with that vacation. However, it still was my vacation and I didn't want to have a bad mood because of all this all the time. So, instead I changed my attitude to 'fuck it' and continued with my vacation plans. I did the hikes I wanted to do and visited the places I wanted even if the weather wasn't on my side. So I don't have many great pictures from the vacation but still some great experiences.
Anyway... was everything bad? No, absolutely fucking not even if it wasn't that relaxing as I hoped it would be. One of my big goals of this vacation was to see the northern lights and as you can see above, I did. And what a show it was... Absolutely stunning and I'm still amazed. After all that shit before this was an absolute relief and turning point for my mood.
I still had a lot of joy on this trip, did some amazing hikes and visited quite a few stunning places.
What now
As mentioned before I had quite a lot of problems which I need to address first. Fix my phone, fix my car and fix my pc or at least do a more in-depth check on what the issue was.
I managed to get my pc rig fully working again. I removed every component, cleaned it and put it back together. I didn't exchanged any hardware but the rig is working again. So I'm not sure what the problem was and I fear it could happen again and could be permanent then. All my data is backed up, therefore data-loss shouldn't be an issue but it still doesn't file right. After the vacation, which wasn't exactly cheap I didn't really planed on stacking up new hardware as I wanted to wait till the RTX 4090 maybe drop a bit in price but I fear the time where I have to stack up might come sooner than I wanted to.
I still have a few things to do in private life before I will engage in rendering again. But I think next week I'll be back at usual rendering if the hardware holds up and will keep doing a regular progress updates again.
Okay, enough ranting now. Next time I'll be back with better news hopefully.
Kind regards.
