Sticker design: Chiaki!

Chiaki is one of my favorite characters to draw, why did she only stick around for one chapter*!!!! Short skirt/long jacket is such a fun combo, especially with the oversized varsity jacket-as-cape.

The little square in the corner of the first screenshot is a 1/8 inch measurement I made for our sticker templates, to make art is within the safe area of the kiss cuts upon manufacturing. (kiss cuts are the fine cuts around a sticker sheet that go through the sticker paper but not the backing)

I've been having fun designing this stuff, it makes me really wish I could do more limited palette work. To be honest, the color step is one of the most time-consuming parts of doing Barbarous! Barring flats (our flatter Charlie) and embedded reference in the script (Ananth) I'm doing all the visuals! It's a lot!

Our upcoming book Pixels of You (coming out this month!!! Feb 8th!! ahhh!) was drawn by J.R. Doyle and colored by Tess Stone, and the palette they worked out together is pretty tight but also manages to be really lush looking? I've been wondering if that's the kind of thing I could do with Barbarous, since I really struggle with palettes. I came from black and white work and it's been a hard segue! It's something I've been thinking about!!
