PROGRESS GIF: designing the Leeds PVC charm!

I wanted to share the process to making the NEW LEEDS PVC CHARM!! (You can get him through our BARBAROUS chapter 5 Kickstarter which is running right now!!)

When we showed off the Chapter 6 cover the response to Percy's Leeds charm was so big we decided to make it! Unfortunately we don't currently have the schedule/manufacturer relationship/budget to make a 3D hard plastic charm like in the illustration so we decided to make a 3D Puff PVC charm instead. I've never produced anything with PVC as a material and was excited to try to make something new! (THO SOME DAY I HOPE WE CAN MAKE SOMETHING LIKE A FIGURINE!! This is a big dream for both me and Ananth!)

I was working without a template and only general guidelines so I did my best to make a moodboard of "what techniques will be available to work with" - primarily, color separations similar to an enamel pin but with debossed lines for finer detail.

I decided my first pass of the sketch was too detailed so I did a redraw with larger head/thicker arms/no elbows/rounder hands etc. and thought it was much more appealing, while still being readable as Leeds. Also I wound up doing several passes of the feet/toebeans for MAXIMUM ROUNDNESS.

While Leeds doesn't REALLY canonically have retractable claws on his hands (I think he does on his feet? idk, he's a cool monster) I didn't think the detail of his claws would be readable with the real estate so I just gave him lil claw-sheath lines. Please forgive me.
