Barbarous page 7 thumbnail breakdown

The scenes in Hale's abandoned doctor's office-hideout wound up being fairly complicated thumbnail wise so I wanted to show off how I built the thumbnail!

I was super happy to see a bunch of 3D models of office furniture for free on the Clip Studio Asset library - there's all sorts of various chairs, tables, machinery and electronics, office layouts, much of which for free. The only specific thing I really wanted was a folding chair, and the rest of the furniture - cabinets, gurney, etc - I used vaguely similar stand-ins and filled in the rest of the details. I had a desk I grabbed a while back that's been doing a lot of heavy lifting lately-- as any sort of tables, doors, shelves, assorted flat surfaces that have to be in appropriate perspective. Thank you for your hard work, free desk asset!

Regarding Hale's failed familiars, I wanted them to look like a child's sculptures. Something done with a lot of zeal but not a lot of skill or patience. I'm not sure I was able to get that unfinished clay texture look, but I think they at least look fairly rudimentary, especially compared to something like Fortuna or Winter who were probably someone's masterpieces.

Also pictured are the references Ananth pulled up for Cecilia's outfit this chapter. I LOVE THESE OUTFITS, I couldn't bring myself to even change the palettes of them. They're just sooo good, Ananth's fashion tastes are always on point! 😭🙏✨
