The White Queen
Added 2022-05-09 19:23:09 +0000 UTCThe elements of this throne room scene came to me during a morning meditation pretty much fully-formed so it was more of a technical exercise in getting all the elements and perspective together than it was executing on the painting.
As you know my original sketch didn't include the duo in the background, and also my original conception of the piece didn't include the bright white windows in back - that came while doing a later morning meditation previsualising how I was going to paint the piece - the idea bubbled up that I should put in that strong backlight so later when I got to my tablet to do the flats I cranked up the back lighting and I think it adds an interesting airiness to the scene that it wouldn't have had otherwise.
