And finished!
An enjoyable (and relatively) quick paint here - glad that I revised the background, and rather enjoyed painting Salome's helpless companion, playing with the blue lit palette (because as you know I instinctively lean on richer reds) and throwing in the overhead light leaks.
Decided to pop in a drone-y heavy rubber alternative too.
All good fun - started with a momentary image bubbling up in my mind during a meditation and realised in a few days after that.
Time to post and then get started on my next piece - a portrait (a minor diversion from what I'd intended to jump onto next, but an lovely exchange on social media this week set me on a new path.)
Happy weekend everyone, I hope you get the opportunity for lots of good, happy fun.
(And, the reason for the title if you hadn't surmised... In legend, the dangerous seductress "Salome", daughter of Herod demands the head of John the Baptist - in this painting the pose is inspired by that of a strong woman holding up a decapitated head...)
