As this painting is about lots of layers of transparent latex I decided to structure my flat colour layers for each item of clothing so I could work from the inside out with the painting. So I began with a nude layer, and then layers on top for each item of clothing.

Then working through painting her, I began doing an all-over naked portrait of her, then painted a layer on top of that for her catsuit & mask, then her bloomers & bonnet and so on. Because some of her clothing goes behind her body, as I painted each layer I then created a corresponding layer behind her and painted the inside/back of the item.

First time I've worked this way but I'm pretty happy with the results so far as it does mean that the latex layers up in a natural way...and more importantly simplifies the technical challenge of painting a material that is flexible, shiny, translucent and reflective all at the same time.

Next step for me is to paint the alternative takes on her head gear before I dive into the background and tackle the nurses.
